2018 OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.) Rochester, NY FRIDAY & SATURDAY, MAY 4TH – 5TH, 2018 RIT is proud to be hosting the Liberty League Track and Field Championships at the RIT Stadium. We hope that you will find all of the following information helpful when you make your plans to visit RIT and the Liberty League Championships on May 4th and 5th. Timing and results will be completed by Leone Timing. Heat sheets and live results will be found on leonetiming.com. Printed results will be posted near the entrance to the bleachers across from the finish line. Hard copies of results will also be available to coaches by request at the timing table.

QUALIFICATION PROCESS:

Each institution shall be allocated a minimum of two participants per event. Additional qualifiers shall be included from the top 24 performers as listed on the TFRRS descending order list and will be entered if declared. Combined event qualification will be limited to the top 12 declared from a list that includes the compiled points acquired throughout the season. The two-participant-per-school allocation does not apply to the combined events. A separate list will be published each week with updated point totals.

WILD CARD PROCESS

Each institution shall be allowed one wild card entry into the meet per gender, which will allow for the entry of a student-athlete that has not yet achieved the threshold for qualifying.

FINAL DECLARATIONS:

Final declarations of athletes and events must be made by 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 2nd via Direct Athletics. All declared entries must be performances from the 2018 Outdoor Track & Field season.

WILD CARD ENTRY:

“Wild Card” entries must be declared with the actual performance in DA. You will then need to email your wild card entry to Rick Streeter at Leone Timing so he can seed them accordingly. [email protected]

PACKET PICK-UP:

Coaches may pick up meet packets at the finish line table.

ORDER OF EVENTS:

An order of events is available on the meet information web site and is included in this mailing.

FACILITIES:

RIT Stadium Track & Field Complex featuring: 1 - 400m Beynon polyurethane track and field event surface, 8-42" lanes 2 - Synthetic runway's for the following: Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault 3 - Shot Put, Hammer Throw, Discus Throw and Javelin will take place from the throws area less than 100m from the track. Javelin has a synthetic runway. 4 – Eight Gill Fusion F-4 starting blocks will be available. Teams MAY bring their own blocks if they wish.

LOCKER ROOMS:

Locker rooms are located on the lower level of the Clark Gym adjacent to the stadium. Towels and Locks are the responsibility of the visiting teams.

IMPLEMENT CERTIFICATION: All implement inspections will take place near the throws area with the use of an Implement Certification Unit. Implement certification will be available on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30pm and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30am. Only meet certified implements will be impounded and made available during the allotted warm-up times. CLERKING:

Field event clerking will take place at the respective field event venues 20 minutes prior to the start of the event. All flights must check in at this time. Track events clerking will take place on outside the track near the finish line 20 minutes prior to the start of all running races.

PROTEST:

All protests must be made in writing by the Head Coach of the protesting school, or designated representative, within 15 minutes of the posting of result. The referee will be the sole and final arbitrator of all protests.

AWARDS:

The top eight finishers in each event will be recognized on the track infield following their competition. Additionally, the top three finishers in each individual event and the winning relay teams will be recognized with championship medals. At the conclusion of the meet, the Rookies, Track, and Field Performers of the Meet will be recognized.

TRAINING ROOM:

The Athletic Training Room is located on the lower level of the Clark Gym. The Athletic Training Room will be open by 9:30 A.M. on Friday and Saturday. Please bring your own tape and supplies. If other arrangements are needed, you should have your trainer contact Ben Emke at 585-475-4513.

PARKING:

Parking for team vehicles will be available in the main parking area (D lot) next to RIT stadium. Bus and overflow parking is available in D-Lot as well.

RULES FOR PRELIMINARY AND FINAL HEATS: A. The number of finalists for all field events shall be nine (9) (ties per NCAA rules). B. All sprints (100, 100 hurdles, 200, 400, 400 hurdles) at the outdoor championships shall be contested and seeded in accordance with NCAA Rules 5-10 and 5-11. C. Seeding running events: • Preferred lanes for the 200m, 400m, 400h, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay are determined by the meet host and timer, in 2018 that will be 4-5-3-6-2-7-1-8. • All relays contested at the outdoor championships shall be seeded into “preferred lanes.” D. In instances in which it has determined that unfavorable wind or weather conditions exist, the referee’s in consultation with the meet host may reverse the direction of running events (provided it is at least ½ hour prior to the start of the event) and designate the site or runway of field events (provided it is at least one hour prior to the start of the event. track E. The distance races shall be seeded as follows: • 1500M: One (1) section for 15 or fewer declared competitors; two (2) sections for more than 15 competitors declare with 12 in the fast section. • The 5000M and 10,000M: One (1) section only. • Steeplechase: The steeplechase will be conducted in one (1) section if 18 or fewer declare. If more than 18 declare then 12 will run in the fast section with the remainder in the first section. F. Advancing to finals: • The method for advancing runners to finals in events with preliminaries at distances of 400m or less will be to advance heat winners and all others on times. • The method for advancing runners to finals in the 800m will be to advance the first two finishers in each heat and all others on times if 3 or fewer heats. In the event of 4 or more heats, the winner of each heat will advance and all others on times. G. Seeding combined events: • All combined events are to be grouped and seeded in accordance with NCAA Rules 9-2.4 and 9-2.5. • Individual event marks can be used to seed wild card entries into combined events. H. Field event flight limits: Field events with 30 or fewer entries are limited to two flights with an additional flight added if there are more than 30 entries.
