North Big Horn County Big Horn County is the sixth largest county in Montana at approximately 5,023 square miles and with a population exceeding 13,000. Ranch Name: Scarlett Hills Ranch When the current owner first came to the ranch, her grandmother came with her. As they arrived, the sun was setting. The sun struck the side of the hills giving them a reddish hue. The grandmother exclaimed, “Look at those Scarlett Hills.” When the owner purchased it, she gave it the name of the Scarlett Hills Ranch after that first glimpse as the sun was setting.
