William Lyon Homes at Leyden Rock and Candelas

Up-close and personal in Arvada: William Lyon Homes has two locations where foothills dominate the views

If you’re one of many buyers who search Denver communities while wondering, “Where are the mountains?”, William Lyon Homes has two communities in the super-popular town of Arvada where the foothills of the Front Range are up-close and personal. Arvada is tucked along the edge of the Rockies but has good commuter access for reaching downtown, including soon-to-arrive light rail service to historic its Olde Town. William Lyon’s Greg Hartman, who will greet you today at newly opened models at Candelas, says “Arvadans love their town and go out of their way to stay inside city limits when the time comes to move.” Sales at both Candelas and nearby Leyden Rock are heavily to families moving within Arvada. But he adds that people working along the U.S. 36 corridor should check these out, as well. Leyden Rock and Candelas each have easy commutes to Broomfield and even Boulder, and prices look very favorable to those in Boulder County. Homebuyer Dwayne Andres from California, renting in Broomfield, was checking out the opportunity to live in Leyden Rock — focusing on

some of the final homes William Lyon has available there. What drew him to Leyden Rock? “Absolutely the views,” he said, noting the backdrop of the Ralston Buttes that line the horizon behind William Lyon’s models. How do these prices look by California standards? “Oh my gosh, affordable,” Andres said. His condo in Sherman Oaks had cost more than a William Lyon home he was eyeing. Leyden Rock has homes ready for move-in now — including a Lantana ranch, two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, 1,968 square feet, at $491,214; and several familysized two-stories with three-car garages from $499,523. All of

them are wrapped by a master plan where 65 percent of the community is open space, to be spanned by 17 miles of trails. Just north of Leyden Rock, a mile up Indiana Avenue, Hartman and Allie Thurston will show you three models at Candelas, all with big kitchens and entertaining areas, extra room for storage, and on most, a three-car-garage at the standard price. You’ll find homes ready for summer move-in, including a four-bedroom with 2,931 square feet and a split three-car garage, at $546,000. William Lyon homebuyers in Candelas will have opportune access to two rec centers with
