Members of the Summit soccer team know that their hard work does not stop on the field. It extends to the classroom. The 2010 varsity team is awaiting word to see if they will receive academic recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for a seventh consecutive year. The team registered a GPA of 3.94 last season and this season could prove to be just as successful. Five seniors will receive 2011 academic recognition: Liz Arnold and Sarah Oltman will be named All-MVC and All-Southwest Academic for the fourth consecutive year. SK Wiser will earn the same honors for the third consecutive season. Mary Bathon and Katie Voytek will join the list as all-MVC and AllSouthwest Ohio. Each of these five seniors will also be recognized as All Ohio Academic for the 2011season and will be nominated for Academic All-American. Congratulations on these major academic accomplishments.

top of the fence to Thurner Field, stripping her shorts to her ankles and having to be lifted to freedom by Coach Fee. Liz has committed to play soccer at Emory University next season.
Liz is our inspiration, our clown, our leader and our rock. Four years ago she entered as a spunky, goofy, driven and determined freshmen. She is now spunky, goofy, driven and determined leader and a more complete soccer player. She is one of the finest captains I have had the pleasure to coach. We are proud that she will represent the Summit program at the next level.
-Coach Fee
Teammate Dedication Liz Arnold might quite possibly be the most well rounded person I know. Not only ii she exceedingly smart, radiantly beautiful, and a spider monkey in the goal, but Liz is one of the best captains I have ever had. When I or anyone else on the team is having a hard time on or off the field, she is always there to help us through it. She leads by example. When she tells us to work harder, she is working the hardest. When she is telling us to run faster, she is in the lead. Liz is nothing short of extraordinary. Liz has always been the one to speak up after games and is honest with herself as well. She has motivated me with her words and actions. She carries herself very confidently and installs a little spark in all of us. I know that when I see Liz make a diving save, or punch it over the bar, she inspires me to give my all and score a goal for her. She takes Summit soccer very seriously but never fails to remember an important component—fun. No matter what is going on that day at a practice or a game, Liz always makes me laugh. She makes everything more enjoyable and I am so
thankful that I have been able to experience these three years with her. Whether she is singing ―Edge of Glory‖ during warm up and after practice, getting caught in awkward moments on fences with Mike, or wearing psychedelic keeper jerseys that Mike dug out of a box from the ‗70s, Liz is always making others laugh. We will never forget the impact she has made on this team. Her ―GAME DAY!‖ texts are sure to live on and have definitely been a big part in our recent wins. As I inspire to be a captain next year, I hope that I can be half the captain she is. I am so glad that I can now call her a friend. I LOVE YOU LIZ!! WE WILL ALL MISS YOU SO MUCH!! -Mary Meyer, Class of 2013

Teammate Dedication Although Mary has only been at Summit for two years, it feels like she has been here just as long as anyone. Mary always works her hardest when she is on the field and pushes others to do the same. She is a strong leader, always encouraging others to keep trying and keep working. Mary is a supportive and positive teammate, always pointing out good things that others have done on the field. Whenever I see Mary in the hallways, she is always smiling or laughing, radiating a sense of positive energy. Mary has been a great addition to both the soccer team and the Summit community as a whole. I know Mary‘s humor, support, and optimistic attitude will be greatly missed next year. -Ellie Cooney, Class of 2013

Sam
Individual Awards & Coach Dedication Sam recorded her first Unfortunately Sam has been hampered by injury this season. We were hoping that she would add depth to our attack. But true to Sam‘s personality, she has not brooded over her inability to get on the field. She has been a constant presence at practices and on the benches during the games. Her teammates appreciate her enthusiasm, her humor and her support. I will miss her greatly as she has been part of my life for the past eight years and we progressed together through the Middle School and the Upper School. - Coach Fee
Teammate Dedication Sam Meder is constantly smiling. In the three years I have known Sam, I have never seen her in a bad mood. Whether we are at practice or in the halls, she is always making people laugh. Sam is a great leader because she never quits and always tries her hardest. I know I am not alone when I say that I am glad to have Sam not only as my teammate, but as my friend. We‘ll miss you Sam! -Natalie

Individual Awards & Coach Dedication 2008 All Southwest Ohio Academic 2009 All Southwest Ohio Academic 2010 MVC 2nd Team; All Southwest Ohio Academic; 2011 Team Captain; All Southwest Ohio Academic; All Ohio Academic What I love the most out of the past four years with Sarah is the growth in her game. We put a lot on her shoulders as a freshman when she wasn‘t quite ready, but she persevered, learned and grew into a much better soccer player. She has always been a good athlete, but she will graduate as a good soccer player. Tactically, Sarah understands her role and the important role of the flank player and has handled that position so well for four seasons. In that time, she has emerged as a leader and a role model for the younger players. At the end of her career, Sarah will have amassed some impressive statistics, most notably in game played. She has been a mainstay and has remained healthy for four years. Nothing would be better than for Sarah to leave with several championships credited to her leadership. These goals are within reach. Thank you Sarah for your dedication to the soccer program. -Coach Fee
Teammate Dedication Sarah Oltman is one of the most caring people I know. From my very first day as a freshman, it was obvious that Sarah was always thinking about others and doing what was best for the people around her. I didn‘t know very many people coming into high school, and Sarah immediately befriended me to make me feel more at home. This year, when she became a captain, her caring nature just became more evident. Sarah always puts the team before herself and is willing to do anything, even if it is inconvenient for her, if it benefits the team. She is always working hard and leading by example in the games and in practice. This season, while the team was going through a bit of a slump, Sarah took it upon herself to motivate the team and doing everything in her power to help us reach the best of our ability. However, Sarah is not just a great role model on the field, but off the field as well. She is a great friend and I know I can always rely on her no matter what. I look up to her and respect her so much. I think every teacher and coach would agree that Sarah represents our school perfectly. Sarah will be successful regardless of what she chooses to pursue in life, but I still wish her luck in the future and hope we will always stay close friends. -Izzie Englehart, Class of 2013

Katie scored a goal on the very first
Like many players before her, Katie has fought for 3 years to make the varsity and has played well when called upon. We have so much depth to our program this year, thanks to the play off our bench and Katie has been a key part of that depth. It is evident that Katie has dedicated herself to be improved player. Her tactical and technical skills have come so far from her freshman year. It is obvious that she gets so much joy out of just playing the game and being with her teammates. The importance of this simple lesson is not wasted on the rest of the girls in the program. Katie brings an enthusiasm every day and I know she relished the role she serves on the team. Thanks for your hard work Katie.
-Coach Fee
Teammate Dedication Katie is one of the most dedicated people I know. She always shows her love for her friends and teammates. It is amazing how much her personality can influence both her team and her friends. Katie is a great leader and is always there for everyone on the team. She shares her experiences and tries to teach us all to strive for the better. The whole team respects her and what she has to say. She smiles all the time and is the most friendly teammate I have ever played with. She is our team’s best cheerleader and official score keeper, always recording the stats, covering Mike’s scorebook with doodles. She is a great person to be around and I loved member of the team. Whether she is screaming a happy birthday wish to you or sympathizing with a injured teammate, Katie always cares about the team. She shows love to all of us on the team and I know I can speak for the team and school when I say that we will miss everything about her next year. -Sheila Eustace, Class of 2013

I was saddened when SK told me she had made the decision to forego her senior season. I wanted to plead with her to remain, but I knew it was a decision she needed to make. My one hope was that she would not want to miss out on the chance to play with her sister. She never told me she decided to stay, but she was training consistently and I was certain that she had decided to play. I have so enjoyed watching SK and Emily together. They have a unique relationship and appear closer than many sisters typically tend to be. On the field, SK has provided important depth at several positions and both as a starter and off the bench. Her value cannot be understated. Off the field, I am so impressed by SK—she is poised, confident, she never, never hesitates to do what is right and is fiercely loyal to her friends. We will be proud to call her a graduate of Summit Country Day. Kudos to the Wisers for raising such an impressive young woman.
-Coach Fee
Teammate Dedication I am blessed to have Sara Kate not only as my teammate, but also as my sister. Sara Kate is an incredible leader, hard worker, athlete and friend. When we were little, we always played soccer together on the same team and I feel very lucky to be teammates one last time. Her principles and strong morals motivate me to be the best person I can be and to put my best foot forward - always! As a freshman this year, I was nervous about starting high school, but knowing I had Sara Kate to turn to made everything easier. Next year I will miss our laughs together, her sense of humor, her positive attitude, and constant support. SK can brighten the mood of a room in five seconds with her presence, and that is a rare gift. I just can‘t imagine what next year will be like when she‘s away at college. I will always treasure the time I spend with my sister – on the soccer field, at home and at school -- and feel extremely lucky to have her in my life. Emily Wiser, Class of 2015
Mom and Dad, I love you and thank you for always being there for me and supporting me in all aspects of my life. Dad, you are the ultimate soccer dad! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you coming to every game you can, traveling with me, taking me to the E.R. to stitch me up or get an X-Ray, bugging me about college, cheering for me on the sidelines, and much more. Mom, thanks for supporting me even though I know you get super nervous watching me play! I still appreciate you coming to my games when I least expect you to. Plus, I owe you for encouraging me to tryout for club in the first place! There will be 4 more years of soccer in my future, and knowing that my parents will be there every step of the way for me is a great feeling. Thanks for everything! Love, Liz. Dear Mommy and Daddy, I love you!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, your favorite daughter, Mary (punkin) Dear Mom and Dad, thank you for… The love you bestowed upon me, your daughter

Mom and Dad, From my first practice with the Blue Ducks, to my last game with the Silver Knights, you have been one heck of a support system. I want to thank you for the countless hours you spent driving to my games, picking me up from practices, playing with me in the backyard, dropping off my forgotten bag, cheering me on, and much, much more. You have helped me succeed both on and off the field. You are the best role models I could ever ask for, and I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for me. I love you. -Sarah Dear Mom and Dad, I am so grateful that you have given me ample opportunities to succeed. Because you sent me to Summit and encouraged me to continue soccer all four years, I have gained many new friends and life lessons. I don't know how I will ever repay you for all that you have sacrificed and all that I have put you through. I love you both and I couldn't ask for better parents. Love, Katie Mama and Daddy, I could take up the entire program trying to explain how grateful I am to you, how much I love you, and how much you mean to me, and I still wouldn’t have enough room. Writing this letter is bringing tears to my eyes because it hurts to know just how incredibly lucky I am to have you two as parents. Your undying support of every realm of my life means the world to me. I thank you especially for pushing me to continue soccer when I was unsure of the commitment; my wonderful season and cherished time spent with Emily I owe to you. You have watched me play soccer in the pouring rain, the blazing heat, in the frosty November air, no matter the circumstances, you’re always there. Mom, your cheering always helps me play harder. Dad, you know I can’t help but smile when I hear, “Yeah, SK! Get some of that!” from the stands. The fact that you two rearrange business trips and other events to watch me play is crazy, but I love you for it, because there is nothing I love more than to be able to give you a hug at the end of each game. I love you with all my heart, and know that no matter how far away college takes me, we’ll never really be that far apart. ~Skatie
