Cat & Dog Throws For Basic Throw, you will need: • • • • • • • • •
3. Cut pieces from felt.
one 45" x 45" square of brown fleece 1 yd. whimsical cotton flower fabric scissors sewing machine and thread iron and ironing board sewing pins basting thread and needle yellow, orange, blue, pink, and red felt fabric glue
4. Stitch Wing to Bird using six strands of green floss. Using black floss, sew small black button to Bird for eye. Knot ends of the yarn and fold in half. Tack yarn at fold to the back of the Bird behind the Wing. 5. Layer orange Small Flower on yellow Large Flower and sew a large button in the center using six strands of yellow floss. Repeat with red Small Flower to pink Large Flower and yellow Small Flower to red Large Flower. 6. Arrange Bird and Flowers on Basic Throw as desired and glue in place.
For Cat Throw only, you will need: • • • • •
yellow, green, and black embroidery floss embroidery needle three large buttons one small black button 6" length of blue yarn
Instructions for Dog Throw only:
1. Cut out patterns for Bone, Bone Background, Paw, and Pads, page 4. 2. Pin patterns to appropriate color felt: orange for one Paw and one set of Pads, red for two more sets of Pads, blue for Bone Background, yellow for Bone and second Paw, and pink for third Paw.
For Dog Throw only, you will need: • orange embroidery floss • embroidery needle • one small red button (optional)
3. Cut pieces from felt.
Instructions for Basic Throw:
1. For binding, cut 4"w strips from the longest side of the cotton fabric. 2. Sew short ends of strips together at an angle. 3. Iron hem under ¼" on both long sides. 4. Fold binding in half lengthwise and pin to raw edge of fleece, folding under the raw edges at start and finish of binding. 5. Baste binding to fleece, checking the underside of fleece to make sure that the hem is even.
5. Glue orange Pads on yellow Paw and red Pads on two remaining Paws.
6. Zig-zag stitch binding in place, mitering corners as you sew.
6. Arrange Bone and Paws on Basic Throw as desired and glue in place.
7. Remove basting.

For name on Bone, pick your favorite computer font and print out the word or name that you prefer at the size that fits on the Bone. (You may have to experiment with the font size just a little to discover that perfect size.) Cut out individual letters, pin letters to pink felt, and cut them out. Glue letters to Bone. If the name you’ve chosen contains “i” or “j”, use six stands of orange floss to sew a small red button to Bone to dot the letter.
