SITE VISIT REPORT ON SRI VIDHYA SCHOOL PROJECT Jan 27, 2014
I had a great site visit to Sri Vidhya School for Special Children in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. Unannounced, I was able to go when the school was in session. All classes were going on in full swing. The elementary grade children were working with alphabets and puzzles. One of the students Lasya put together the letters of her name for me, some students matched the shapes of the puzzle pieces on the board and some others showed me their coloring skills. The middle schoolers were working on their needle work and stitching. Divya and Rishab were enjoying making patterns and had beautiful smiles on their faces as they were working, it was a delight to watch them. The high schoolers were working on their fine motor skills, some others on setting the plates for lunch. The occupational therapist was also on site. I was able to visit with teachers and other staff. The place was clean and well kept. The case studies and others files were all organized and filed away in file cabinets. It was very fulfilling to see the progress being made by these children year after year, the enthusiasm with which they are learning and doing things, and the loving and nurturing atmosphere that Mrs.Shanti and her staff are providing to all these children and young adults.
