Siuslaw Youth Soccer Association Policies -Coach Conduct Policy As a coach for the SYSA it is my responsibility to: -Conduct myself in a positive manner as a role model who treats each player, official, parent, opposing team, their staff, and all guests with respect. -Protect the health and well-being of each player and work to ensure that each player has a positive experience. -Cooperate with administrators of our program in order to enforce the rules and regulations of our program. -Train/teach my team within their age and skill level in order to ensure the player feels challenged in a comfortable environment that emphasizes fun, participation, and skill development. -Player Conduct Policy As a player for the SYSA it is my responsibility to: -Behave responsibly and respectfully to all teammates, parents, coaches, officials, opposing teams, their staff, and all guests. -Be responsible and respectful to all equipment, playing fields, and surrounding facilities. -Be prepared for every practice and game with proper equipment/gear and ready to participate. Gear includes appropriate shoes, shin guards, uniform, water, and weather appropriate clothing. -Parent Conduct Policy As a parent of an SYSA player it is my responsibility to: -Behave responsibly and respectfully to all players, parents, coaches, officials, opposing teams, their staff, and all guests. -Refrain from coaching my player or any other player from the sidelines. It is the coach’s responsibility to do the coaching, and my responsibility to watch and support my team in a respectful manner. -Have my child’s registration fees paid in full before the registration deadline. -Make sure my child arrives to practice and games on time.

Refund policy: Once a player has registered for the SYSA $25 is completely non-refundable. If a player cancels before the registration deadline all but $25 will be refunded. No refunds will be granted after the registration deadline unless an exception is made by administrators. -If we are unable to place a player on a team the registration fee will be 100% refunded.

Team Formation Policy: -Teams will be formed by a committee of at least two people on the administration board. This committee will establish a minimum and maximum number of players per team depending on the number of coaches, the number of registered players, and the amount of field space for practice and or games. -No player will be placed on a team without being registered first and having registration fees paid in full. -A parent or guardian may request certain children or siblings be placed on the same team for any reason, but requests may not always be fulfilled. We must consider the number of players per team as well as the skill level of each team to be sure games are fair. -Coaches may not select their own teams. Coach and Referee Selection Policy: -SYSA is a non-profit organization and relies on volunteers to operate. Any person over 18 and interested in coaching is welcome to volunteer. -All coaches must first complete a criminal background check. -Administrators have the final say on who does or does not coach. -Referees will be selected by the administration. -Teams for ages 8 and under will rely on volunteer referees, such as coaches or willing parent/guardians. -Referees of games for ages 9 and older will be paid $15 per game.
