Hunting Laws and Regulations Discharge of any rimfire/centerfire firearms, muzzle-loading firearms or bow and arrow within State Park boundaries, except in Designated Hunting Zones, is prohibited pursuant to NAC 407.105 Possession or use of weapons within state parks (NRS 407.0475, 407.065)! The Administrator may designate zones, Designated Hunting Zones, in which a person may, for the purposes of hunting a species that is designated by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners as a game mammal or game bird pursuant to chapter 503 of NAC, carry and discharge a firearm or bow in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Wildlife (NDOW). All General and Season Laws and Regulations set forth by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners and NDOW for species identified as game mammals and game birds must be followed while hunting within the designated zones at South Fork SRA. A copy of the Nevada Hunting Seasons and Regulations for big game mammals produced by the NDOW can be found at the South Fork SRA Ranger Station, at the NDOW office in Elko or at any hunting and fishing license vendor for the NDOW. A copy of the Migratory Game Bird Limits and Regulations, Furbearer Seasons and Limits and Upland Game Bird, Rabbit, Dove and Crow Seasons and Regulations can also be found at the South Fork SRA Ranger Station. HUNTING ZONES

The South Fork of the Humboldt River portion, from the Lucky Nugget Subdivision access causeway to the upstream Gauging Station southeast of the causeway, is open for public use for hunting. The portion of South Fork Reservoir along the shoreline near Lower South Fork road ¼ miles north of the Tomera Ranch Site to the Landa group use area and ¼ miles from Ranger Station and Tomera Campground is open to hunting with shotgun only in season. The portion of South Fork Reservoir, Fisherman’s point island is open to hunting with shotgun only in season. The downstream portion of the South Fork of the Humboldt River, ¼ miles below the dam, is open to hunting with a bow and arrow or shotgun only in season. Refer to the map at the end of this brochure for designated hunting zones. No hunting in Tomera Cove, Hastings Cove, Jetski Beach, Coyote Cove, Coyote Beach, Landa Cove, Hamilton Boat Launch, along eastern shoreline from the Landa Cove to the Dam and along southern and western shorelines from the Tomera Ranch Site to Fisherman’s Point, and from Fisherman’s point to the dam along the western shoreline! Also No hunting within ¼ miles of any park facilities, dam and/or residences along or within close proximity to the South Fork SRA boundary!

Bow and Arrow Use The use of a bow and arrow, is allowed, within the Designated Hunting zones of the South Fork State Recreation Area (SRA) for purposes of hunting a species that is designated by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners as a game mammal pursuant to chapter 503 of NAC, and must follow all General Hunting Laws and Regulations set forth by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners and the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW). Hunting with a bow and arrow in the South Fork SRA designated zones only during the archery only season or during the any legal weapon season set forth by the Board Of Wildlife Commissioners and the NDOW for game mammals.

Shotgun Use The use of a shotgun, is allowed, within the Designated Hunting zones of the South Fork SRA for the purposes of hunting a species that is designated by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners as a game mammal or game bird pursuant to chapter 503 of NAC, and must follow all General Hunting Laws and Regulations set forth by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners and the NDOW. Hunting with a shotgun in the South Fork SRA designated zones only during open upland game bird seasons, migratory game bird and waterfowl seasons, and during the any legal weapon season for game mammals set forth by the Board of Wildlife Commissioners and the NDOW.
