Weekly Sports Update

Sports Highlights Water  Polo  Success   Mount Maunganui College girls Shinae Carrington and Grace Elisara are the latest addition to the NZ Water Polo scene, with both girls been selected to represent in the 2000 born NZ Under15 squad to travel to Sydney and play in a Trans Tasman State Series. The girls were picked from the 2014 Under14 nationals last year, and have since been to two NZ camps, and from there selected to represent NZ in Sydney. Ella Pollock was also selected in the squad but unfortunately through injury wasn't available for selection. This continues on a great representation from the college at the high end of the sport. With three Mount girls already away in Hungry and Julia Kayes again being selected in the 99 born NZ team. Mount girls Water Polo looks in great shape. With hard work and determination dreams & goals can be achieved. And these girl’s are proof of that. Special thanks to the schools coaching staff that volunteers their time and expertise, without them it wouldn't be possible.

FUNDRAISER– COME AND SUPPORT EMERSON TOD AND SAMANTHA MELLOW REPRESENTING NZ WOMENS JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL TEAM HEADING TO THAILAND IN JULY

Many of the young referees were Mt College Pupils and I would like to congratulate them on the way in which they refereed the games as well as presented themselves. They were professional, fair and knowledgeable in the rules of the game.

PARENTS COACHES ATHLETES TEACHERS SEE TOP SPORTS PSYCHOLOGIST DAVID GALBRAITH PRESENT

TUESDAY 9th JUNE Venue: Mt College Hall Time: 6.30pm-8.30pm Cost: $25 a ticket

One of the referees that came to my attention was Manaia Berryman. He was a former pupil of mine and I was so proud of the way he refereed a couple of our games. He was an outstanding role model to our children. He was calm and fair in a tricky situation with an "outspoken" coach on the sideline. I felt that he dealt with the matter in a calm and fair way, where he displayed morals and values, and put the safety of the children playing first and foremost. It was great to see the maturity and poise that the displayed.
