Property A most attractive, individual semi-detached period cottage believe to date back to 1750 with later additions. The property has been well-maintained by the present owners and is well-presented throughout. The ground floor has a dining room, lounge, study, utility room/cloakroom and a well-equipped fitted kitchen. On the first floor, the master bedroom has an en-suite shower room, there are two further bedrooms and a newly fitted family bathroom. The property is set back from the road with lawns, mature shrubs and flowers borders and ample off street parking. The rear garden is ideal for entertaining with a patio plus a large workshop, garden shed, greenhouse, tiled roundhouse and access to the garage. Local shops in Swalecliffe are within easy reach, as to is the seafront. There is also a mainline railway station close by providing a regular service to London. The popular and quaint seaside town of Whitstable is approximately 2 miles away and provides a wide variety of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Whilst the Cathedral City of Canterbury is within 7 miles.
Our Time Here This property caught our eye in the newspaper. At that time, it was only half the size it is now, but the shape and the wood fascias to the upper part of the house gave an old world charm to the appearance. Upon viewing the property, the traditional black beams enhanced the character look and the property had a very welcoming and friendly feel about it. Without a doubt, the lounge is our favourite room. Set in the extended part of the house, it holds many happy memories of entertaining friends and family over the years. We had an inglenook fireplace built to maintain the character feel of the original house and used reclaimed London stock bricks. These bricks are all a pink/salmon colour, which gives the feature a warm and cosy feel. Along with the reclaimed oak beam from a disused Belgium barn and the odd brick that still retains soot and smoke staining from old London chimneys, the overall appearance is stunning. Add to this the concealed dimmable lighting that enhances the feature at night and you'll understand why this is our favourite room in the house. There are local shops approximately 1/2 mile away, which include a Post Office, newsagent, library, mini supermarket, chemist, fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway etc. The shops are opposite the main line railway station with services to London and stations further down the coast terminating at Ramsgate or Margate. The medical centre is within walking distance, and Swalecliffe Primary school is about 10 minutes walk. The local bus service stops within 50 yards of the house and provides easy travel to Whitstable, Herne Bay and Canterbury that also provide many other useful facilities within easy reach. We love the ability to walk or cycle to the seafront, which is approximately 5 minutes from the house, then use the promenade to either go to Whitstable or Herne Bay to one of the many coastal cafes to enjoy breakfast overlooking the sea.
