October 2015 Hello to all old and new parents. The first few weeks of term have flown by and I can’t believe we are nearing the end of half term already. The beginning of October saw the PTA Annual General Meeting. Thank you to everyone who attended and saw me take up the helm as Chair of the PTA. I and the other members of the PTA are looking forward to working with you all over the coming months. Last year the PTA worked very hard in raising over £16,000! This money has now been set aside to help fund the creation of a desperately needed new kitchen. It was such an incredible achievement to have raised such a vast amount of money and was only possible due to the generosity of our parents, carers, staff and everyone associated with the PTA. So thank you all! We are currently working with Mrs Blount and the school to choose a main goal for this year’s money. It would be great for parents and carers to get involved again this year to help raise even more for the benefit of our children. The PTA’s first hot dog stall happened on Friday 9th October and was as successful as ever. Thanks to everyone who came and bought a hot dog, drink or sweets. We managed to raise over £140 which is fantastic! As they’re so successful, you’ll see more of these throughout the year, details in the Diary Dates section of the Newsletter! We are also hoping to be able to run our very popular film events when we get back after half term, helpers permitting, so keep an eye out for these.
What’s new this month? New Committee Members PTA Chair – Sara Dennis
Hello, I’m Sara and I have a daughter, Charlotte, in Year 1. I also have a 2 year old, Isabella, who will hopefully be starting Rainbow Fishes next September. I am a full time working mum who loves my holidays! When Charlotte started in Reception I became an active member of the PTA as I was keen to help raise funds for the school. I am passionate about fund raising and hope to obtain as much for the children as possible, especially items that the school otherwise might not get without the funds raised by the PTA. Vice Chair – Kerry Greenwood
Hi, my name is Kerry. I have a child in year 2 and another in Rainbow Fish. I have been an active part of the PTA since 2013. I am looking forward to a fantastic year of raising money to help all our children during their time at St Peter’s.

Easyfundraising! Easy ways to help With Christmas fast approaching, we know you will all be busy buying Christmas presents so please help us while you shop! Easyfundraising is a way for the PTA to raise extra funds when parents are shopping online. There are over 2,700 retailers to choose from including John Lewis, Ebay, Amazon, Argos, Thomas Cook and ToysRUs. Easyfundraising gives St Peter’s PTA a percentage of the total amount spent. Please ask friends and family to use it too! 50 parents have signed up to this and already we have raised over £500! Register to support us today at: www.easyfundraising.org.uk /stpeterscofe All monies raised will be used to purchase more resources for the children.
Christmas Fair Your school needs you!
Also, if you have any unwanted gifts, soft cuddly toys, bric-a-brac or unbroken toys that your children may have outgrown, we could certainly use them on the stalls at the Christmas Fair. Please pass to myself in the playground or leave in reception with Mrs Scott. Another great way that you might be able to help is to have a discussion with your place of work. Are there any companies out there that would consider donating a larger prize for a raffle or offer match funding? Maybe they would like to sponsor a stall? Any and all company contributions are welcomed. If you do have a company sponsorship policy as most do these days, please do get in touch with one of the PTA committee and we can discuss over a coffee. Big thank you already to Haart, Equity Networks, Faulkner Heating Ltd, DDS Demolition, AD Construction, Gilmartins and Quicksons who have agreed to sponsor stalls at the fair.
Facebook We have a Facebook page!
“Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.” Matthew 5:42
Treasurer – Louise Gelhardt
Planning for the Christmas Fair is well under way, and we need your help! For us to be able to continue with all our activities we need your support at the events, so please take the time to consider how you can be involved. We are always in need of volunteers for the Christmas Fair. So if you can help out on a stall on the day please let me know.
Take Care, Sara
