Sports Day Well done to all the children from Reception Class up to Year 6 who performed magnificently in yesterday’s sports day. Fortunately the weather stayed kind to us which allowed the children to enjoy this annual event. A big thank you to all the parents, carers, grandparents and everyone else who was able to come along and support the children. Thornton Parish Council – Stocks and Sundials Project Our Year 3 children visited the site of the Stocks and Sundials, opposite the Nags Head Public House, on Wednesday morning. The weather was absolutely appalling but the children braved the conditions to learn about this very important part of our local history. From September the same group of children will be undertaking a joint project with students from Holy Family High School around the site and its relevance to Thornton. New School Website Our new school website is now live! The address is still the same www.stwiliamofyork.co.uk Lots of the existing information has been transferred and we will be adding further information over the coming weeks. We hope that you like the new style and find it easier to navigate. We recommend that you add it to your mobile phone as a bookmark, if you have the facility. For iPhone you can do this by finding the site on the internet, clicking on the square icon with an arrow at the bottom of the screen and then clicking on ‘add to your home screen’. Acorn Farm – School Visit We had a number of visitors to the school on Wednesday from Acorn Farm. Some had four legs, some had two, and some even had wings!!?? A number of animals were brought along for the children in our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 to see and interact with. They learnt a variety of facts about them including what they like to eat and how they keep warm in the winter. Wally Cain Dance Festival Well done to all those children who performed magnificently at the Wally Cain Dance Festival at Southport Theatre, last Wednesday. It truly was a magnificent occasion and the children made their parents, teachers and the school extremely proud. A special thank you must go to Mrs Diaz who worked tirelessly to prepare the children for the event. th
