Annual Congregational Meeting - Sunday, June 4 Begins at 5:00pm with a Potluck Dinner (Please bring a main dish and a salad or dessert to share)
Agenda will include … Review of the year Annual Church Election of Officers Suburban’s annual election of officers will take place on Sunday, May 8. Ballots will be inserted in each bulletin that day and church members are all encouraged to fill out a ballot and place it in one of the baskets that will be in the foyer for their collection. The congregation has responsibility to give final approval to the election of elders and trustees for the church, with other church officers appointed by the elders. This year, three men are nominated as elders … each for a three year term from June 1, 2016 through May 31, 2019. Phil Geisert is being nominated for another term as an elder. He has served as an elder at Suburban since 2013. Two new men are also being nominated to join the elder team: Jason Nelson and Brian Paul. Jason & Tina and their family have been a part of the Suburban family for over 20 years. They have been actively involved in volunteering with our youth ministry for many years. Brian & Lynn and their family have been a part of the Suburban family for about 4 years. Both Brian and Lynn have been a part of the planning team for Suburban’s small group ministry. Lynn also serves as a part of the pastoral search team. Jim Nielsen is being nominated for another three-year term as a trustee. The trustees are the legal signers for the church on any official documents. Jim has served as a trustee since 2013

From Steve’s Desk Suburban’s annual congregational meeting will take place in a few weeks … on Sunday, June 4th. The meeting is the one planned opportunity each year for members of the congregation to hear a report on how the church is doing … look ahead at the plans for the coming year … and approve the annual plan and the budget for the new church year. This year’s meeting will be especially important as the congregation will receive an update on the transition plan for seeking a new senior minister. Another unique and important part of this meeting will be to recognize Wayne Seim as he retires from Suburban’s eldership after more than thirty consecutive years in that role. Wayne has been such a blessing to the church through the teaching and leadership he has provided through the years and the elders will miss his wisdom and insight. In addition, we will also recognize Jim Bogar as he prepares to retire as Suburban’s executive pastor at the end of June after ten years in that role. Jim has played a key part in Suburban’s growth, leading our capital campaigns and our building expansion projects. Here is a brief look at some of the other issues that will be addressed at the meeting. All members are encouraged to attend to hear more details and to have the opportunity for input into the direction of the church. Non-members are always welcome to sit in on the meeting, too. The review of the year will highlight some of the major ministries that have happened over the past year. The plan for the coming year that starts July 1 includes some very exciting plans that have been developed by the various ministry areas of Suburban. The budget for the July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016 church year will be presented. The current financial year has been a real blessings as we’ve seen offerings that are right on target to hit our budget goals. The new budget that will be considered reflects an increase of about 5% from the current budget. My hope is that many people will attend the annual meeting. The elders, staff and ministry leaders look forward to sharing our plans and ideas to the congregation and your attendance will be an encouragement to us.
Love, Steve

Capital Campaign Update April is the last month of our 3 year Continuing In Faith capital campaign. Our goal was to raise $1,250,000 to purchase property next to the church, improve our parking and the new property, and debt reduction on the mortgage related to the new auditorium/kitchen/and preschool. As of April 10 th over 200 families have committed $1,060,767 (84.9% of our goal) and we have received $914,577 (86.2% of commitments). Thank you for your faithful commitment to God and His church in using the resources He has provided you to His work at Suburban. Although April marks the official end of the capital campaign I would encourage you to continue to give to the church building fund until your commitment is complete or if you wish to make additional donations (mark building fund in the memo of your check or the on-line giving on our website). Again, thank you for making Continuing In Faith a successful capital campaign. Jim Bogar, Executive Pastor

Special Baptism Service Have you been thinking about getting baptized? Have you been putting it off for awhile? If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your next step is to be baptized. We’ve baptized children, teens, college students and adults who want to be obedient to Jesus command to be baptized. We even have seniors get baptized who have never been baptized before, or want to make a fresh commitment to the Lord. So if you are in school or out of school; if you are young or old, or in-between – You can commit your life to Christ and get baptized on Sunday afternoon June 5 at 4pm. It’ll be a special service where you can gather your friends and family to see your special day. Contact any of our staff to find out more!

Love, Steve
