Pineapple Quilt Class Summer 2017 We will learn the piecing technique in class and make at least 1 block. If time permits, we will make more. Pattern: Lynn Graves 12” Pineapple Foundation Sheets by Little Foot (available at RSC)

Supplies needed for Class Fabric: 1 fat quarter or ¼ yard of 20 different lights and 20 different darks ** Cut into 1 ½ inch strips of each color for piecing in class 1 fat quarter or ¼ yard of 4 different darks for corners ** Cut 3 ½ squares of each color for piecing a 10” block in class OR **Cut 4” squares of each color for piecing a 12” block in class 1 fat quarter of ¼ yard for center of pineapple (you may choose any color for the center – the traditional method has solid red in middle) ** Cut several 2

1/2” squares for piecing in class

Notions Sewing machine in good working order with necessary feet, power cords, etc… Sewing machine needles – larger needles preferred (size 90 or above) Foundation Papers – Lynn Graves’ 12” Pineapple Foundation Sheets by Little Foot There are 20 sheets per package. One package will produce a 20 block quilt measuring 48”x60” ¼ inch sewing machine foot for piecing Iron and Ironing board (may use Richland Sewing Center’s during class) Scissors (both large and small) Basic sewing and cutting supplies – neutral thread, scissors, seam ripper, pins, rotary cutter, small mat and ruler. Pineapple Quilt Cutting instructions 1. When sewing on foundation paper, shorten your stitch length and use a larger needle. This will help when tearing away foundation paper at the end 2. Center square of each block is a 2 ½” square 3. Cut all strips to 1 ½” wide 4. For the corners, cut 2 4x4” squares and then cut in half on diagonally to create a total of 4 triangles (90 degree). A total of 4 triangles needed for each block 5. Place 2 ½” on FRONT of paper on lines a.
