TAKE A DAY OFF PART II NOVEMBER 18-19, 2017 INTRODUCTION Many of us go around and replenish others and if we don’t get refueled we will perish. The Bible says we need a day off a week. It takes some faith to stop. You have to have faith God will take care of it. Matthew 6:33, “Seek first His kingdom and He will add everything else to you.” Exodus 16:22-23, “…tomorrow will be a day of complete rest, a holy Sabbath day set apart for the Lord...” The problem was they had a tough time believing so they collected more than they needed. I. TAKE A DAY OFF This was the one issue Jews always battled Jesus on. Take a day off was a commandment. Why don’t we realize God’s trying to help us? Mark 2:27-28, Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not the people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath, so the Son of man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!” The Sabbath is meant to help save us from ourselves! II. WHY DON’T WE STOP? The answer is because we don’t trust things will be ok if we do. To stop takes faith that God will take care of the rest.
Would you rather set your schedule and make it work or have God bless it? It takes faith. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. Taking a day off is a witness to your priorities and your faith. III. WHAT WOULD I DO WITH MY DAY? The right question is what would you not do? Work This is an issue of health. God caring for us. Some of us are dying early because we won’t stop. We don’t know how. What should you do with your day? Matthew 12:9-14, “… Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath…” Do things you enjoy…that refresh you and include Jesus! II Chronicles 36:20-21, “…The land enjoyed its Sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested…” Disobedience accumulates and we reap what we have sowed, but sowing and reaping take time. Enjoy the Sabbath. Mark 2:27, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not the people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath…” God made the Sabbath as a blessing to help us. To stop and rest. It is not a law, it is a God idea. CLOSE We all need permission to stop. What is the Holy Spirit saying to you today?
