Come and Worship! We celebrate with worship on Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Sunday School at 10 a.m. And Mondays at 6 p.m. OFFICE HOURS: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

TELLERS for MARCH Greetings Everyone, I hope everyone has been able to keep away those cabin fever blues away during the winter months. Though with the warm up in February I would image many people were happy to get out of the house and have some outdoor fun. Speaking of fun, the month of March is the beginning of our Lenten journey. Ash Wednesday is on March 1st and for the next 40 days we have the opportunity to reflect on our faith. Our services for Ash Wednesday will be at 6:00PM and we will have midweek Lenten services every Wednesday at 6:00pm. I look forward to seeing everyone as we start our Lenten journey in the month of March. With our midweek Lenten services, we will be moving through Luther’s Small Catechism. Earlier last fall the larger ELCA synod offices had made a suggestion for using the small catechism in either the advent or Lenten midweek devotions in honor of the 500th anniversary of the reformation. So I decided that it would be interesting to apply this to our Lenten midweek services. Thankfully because the larger church had suggested it they were able to provide us with worship resources and I have been able to apply them to our context. Now for many of you going through the small catechism may be review but some might be experiencing it for the first time. Either way you are experiencing this learning opportunity I feel it will be a lot of fun. Besides being fun, I do think our midweek lent services are also a time to reflect on our faith. I would encourage everyone to take time ether during the services or outside of the services to think about your faith. As you think about your faith I would also encourage you to think about your relationships. Throughout my studies I find that our faith is heavily reliant on the relationship in which we have with God and with one another. As we go through the small catechism there are topics that point out relationship that we not only have with God and others but how God has a relationship with us and God’s self. Our faith in my opinion relies heavily on the understanding of relationships both good and bad. Though we should always be recognizing the good and bad of relationships but it seems lent gives us the more intentional time of doing so. As we go through the month of March and the season of lent may God’s blessing continue to be upon you all. Sincerely, Pastor John

MID-WEEK LENTEN SERVICES

Join us on Wednesdays starting, March 8th, at 6 p.m. for Mid-week Lenten services. This year we will be moving through Luther’s Small Catechism in recognition of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. Week of Lent 1 - Ten Commandments In Exodus God gives Moses the Law so that the people of Israel would know how to fulfill their part of God’s covenant as God’s people. Week of Lent 2 – Creed How do we express belief? How do we share our faith? The Creed, crafted in the early days of the church, gives us a simple but firm foundation for sharing and professing. Week of Lent 3 - Lord’s Prayer Lent and Lenten worship call us to repent, to make a new beginning. One of the best ways to begin again with God is through conversation, also known as prayer. And what better prayer than the one that Jesus taught us? Week of Lent 4 – Baptism Dying to our old, sinful self in baptism, we rise from the waters as beloved children of God. We are walking wet throughout the forty days of Lent, reminded daily that we are dead to sin. Week of Lent 5 - Holy Communion As we approach Holy Week, we remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us. We gather around the table to remind ourselves and one another of that sacrifice and how it shapes our lives.

FELLOWSHIP HOSTS We are a family UNITED … and what a great way to get to know each other better … over coffee! But we need YOU to put on the coffee and be willing to clean up afterwards (and perhaps provide something to go with the coffee). Check the sign-up sheet in the barrier-free entrance. Remember, the focus is the fellowship … so keep the food simple. (All the monetary donations received during the Fellowship Hour go toward World Hunger.)
