Fabric B: Camo – Tan • Cut four 3 ½” x Width of Fabric (WOF) strips. Sub-cut the strips into eight 3 ½” x 14 ½” strips. • Cut four 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eight 3 ½” x 20 ½” strips. Fabric C: Plaid – Hunter • Cut four 2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eight 2” x 19 ½” strips. • Cut eight 2” x 22 ½” WOF strips.

Cutting Instructions - Continued: Fabric D: Dry Grass – Multi • Cut one 8 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into five 8” x 8 ½” strips. Fabric E: Hoof Prints – Russet • Cut three 1 ¾” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into ten 1 ¾” x 8 ½” strips. • Cut three 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into ten 1 ½” x 10 ½” strips. • Cut four 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into twenty 3 ½” x 6 ½” strips. • Cut four 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 2” x 66 ½” strips. • Cut four 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 2” x 69 ½” strips. Fabric F: Words – Green • Cut five 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into twenty 3 ½” x 10 ½” strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 2 ½” x 85 ½” strips. Fabric J: Palette – Cream • Cut ten 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into (120) 3 ½” squares. • Cut four 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into forty 2 ½” x 3 ½” strips. Fabric K: Hoof Prints – Charcoal • Cut nine 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding. Backing: Ground – Multi • Cut three 93” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 93” x 93” for the pieced back.

Block Assembly: 1. Sew one 3 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of one 14 ½” Fabric A square. Sew one 3 ½” x 20 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square. Trim the block to measure 19 ½” square to make one Unit 1 block (Fig. 1). Repeat to make four Unit 1 blocks total.

2. Sew one 2” x 19 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of one Unit 1 block. Sew one 2” x 22 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 block to make one Block One square (Fig. 2). Repeat to make four Block One squares total.

3. Place one 3 ½” Fabric J square on the left side of one 3 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric E strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance. 4. Place another 3 ½” Fabric J square on the right side of the 3 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric E strip, right sides together (Fig. 5). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 5). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make one Unit 2 strip (Fig. 6). 5. Repeat Steps 3-4 to make twenty Unit 2 strips total. Unit 2 make 20 J Fig. 3

6. Repeat Steps 3-4 using twenty 3 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric F strips and forty 3 ½” Fabric J squares to make twenty Unit 3 strips (Fig. 7). 7. Sew one 2 ½” x 3 ½” Fabric J strip to each end of one Unit 2 strip lengthwise to make one JJ strip. Repeat to make twenty JJ strips total. 8. Sew one JJ strip to the top of one Unit 3 strip to make one Unit 4 strip (Fig. 8). Repeat to make twenty Unit 4 strips total.

Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 9). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 10). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam. 10. Follow Figure 11 for the seam direction to add a 3 ½” Fabric J square to the lower right corner of the 6 ½” Fabric G square to make one Unit 5 block (Fig. 12). 11. 12. Sew one 1 ¾” x 8 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of one 8” x 8 ½” Fabric D strip. Sew one 1 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric D strip to make one Unit 6 block (Fig. 13). Repeat to make five Unit 6 blocks total. 13. Sew one Unit 4 strip to each side of one Unit 6 block. Sew one Unit 5 block to each end of one Unit 4 strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Quilt Top Assembly – Refer to the Quilt Layout on pg. 7 while assembling the quilt top: 14. Sew one Block Two square to each side of one Block One square to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three. 15. Sew one Block One square to each side of one Block Two square to make Row Two. 16. Sew the three rows together in numerical order to make the Center Block. 17. Sew one 2” x 66 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew one 2” x 69 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block. 18. Sew one 6 ½” x 69 ½” Fabric H strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew one 6 ½” x 81 ½” Fabric H strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block. 19. Sew one 2 ½” x 81 ½” Fabric I strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew one 2 ½” x 85 ½” Fabric I strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top. 20. Layer and quilt as desired. 21. Sew the nine 2 ½” x WOF Fabric K strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press. 22. Bind as desired.
