READ: 1 Peter 1: 22-25 1.) The Christians that Peter was writing to were going through a time of persecution and hardship. Why was it important that they were reminded that everything fades away, but God’s Word remains forever? 2.) What is it about the truth of the gospel and our new birth that make us more loving? 3.) READ: 1 John 4:19-21. From this passage, what should initiate our love for others? 4.) READ: 1 Cor. 13:1-3. This passage points to the fact that love is our ultimate, lasting priority. This week’s sermon and the passage dealt with HOW we are to love: SINCERELY – impacted by the love I’ve been shown, I want to give love to others, BROTHE RLY – not looking down, but shoulder-to-shoulder love, EARNESTL Y – motivated, selfstarting, intentionally looking for ways to love, PURELY – not with mixed motives or selfish ambition. Of these that have been listed above, which are the hardest for you? Why? INVISIBLE BARELY VISIBLE ON GOOD DAYS MOST OF THE TIME EVERY DAY IN EVERY SITUATION
2.) How visible is God’s love in the way your live your life? Where do you fall on the scale above? 3.) If someone was following your life, what evidence would there be that you are on a mission of love? 4.) 2 Cor. 5:18-21 says that when we are in Christ we have a new “occupation” - to reconcile people to God by showing and sharing the same love that we’ve been given.
