“Excellence Without Exception” Volume 3, Issue 20 March 6, 2012

This month’s theme is “Whatever it Takes” Greetings Big KIPPsters! Greetings! There are 5 days until the MSA. I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication in ensuring that our students are ready for this great academic adventure. We are excited about this time of year and time because this is an opportunity for our KIPPsters to shine and show what they know! Together, we will make this happen. Please push students to come to school daily to ensure that success is experienced . Please see the attendance from last week. As you can see, we didn’t make our goal of 98% or better. We want to remain on top, but more importantly, we want to ensure that our students have the best education possible. Remember, this is a family affair and you’re a part of our KIPP family. I highly respect each of you and look forward to seeing you in the building ! GRADE LEVEL

We must adopt this theme as we embark upon many different challenges. The attitude of whatever it takes means that any challenge we face we will meet success because we will not stop until we reach our goals. As we prepare the students for the MSA our attitude is whatever it takes .

Dear Parents, As you know, we will begin construction work on the roof of our building that is necessary in repairing the air conditioning unit. In last week’s newsletter it was noted that construction would begin on March 1, 2012. That has since changed and construction has been postponed until next week; however, you will see signs posted this week regarding the work that will begin next week. Students will continue to utilize the KIPP entrances as the work will be performed between the hours of 8:30 –3:30 and not during arrival and dismissal times for staff and students. This will only impact the exterior of the building and will not affect teaching and learning taking place inside of our school. The main parking lot for staff near the KIPP entrance will be fenced off during the construction (doors to elevator will be accessible) and we ask that you continue to utilize the service road to drop off and pick up students. Our staff will be utilizing the lower parking lot closer to Greenspring Avenue during this time; therefore, there will be more cars on that lot during dismissal. For the safety of our students, staff, and parents we ask that everyone adheres to the signs that will be posted outside directing us to locations other than where construction will be taking place. We will be sending home another notice this week with more specifics regarding the construction. As always, we appreciate and thank you for your cooperation in this manner.

Engrade– Parents this is a reminder to check your child’s academic status online as we are no linger sending home bi-weekly progress reports. If you did not receive your child’s login information to view his/her grades online, please contact any one of your child’s teachers or feel free to contact Mrs. Smith.

Parents please mark your calendars! According to our school calendar, the following dates are on the calendar as either PD, or no school at all. When creating our school calendar, we utilized the calendar generated from BCPSS to devise our calendar which these dates were noted accordingly on the BCPSS calendar. Apparently, the BCPSS calendar was revised at some point and we must now have a full day of school with students for each day noted below. Please make sure that your student is in attendance on the following days. March 22 (noted as PD) March 23, 2012 (noted as school closed for everyone)
