Dear valued MSU partner, Once again, the time has come for The 20th Annual McMasters – the McMaster Students Union Annual Charity Golf Classic — to be held on Thursday, June 23rd. This year’s event will take place at the Chedoke Golf Course in Hamilton, with dinner to follow at TwelvEighty, hosted by our gifted Red Seal chef. All net proceeds from this tournament will be donated to the McMaster Students Union Shinerama campaign and Child Care Centre — both very important parts of the McMaster community. We are inviting our community partners to review our sponsorship package which outlines the following: • Silent Auction item sponsorship • Golf hole sponsorship • Golf Cart sponsorship Donations and prizes of any value are much appreciated. The McMasters will recognize all contributions to our charity fundraising efforts through tournament and silent auction signage. HOW DOES THE McMASTERS BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY? McMASTER STUDENTS UNION CHILD CARE CENTRE The McMaster Students Union Child Care Centre provides quality care to enrich all aspects of development in children in a “home away from home” atmosphere for both the child and the family. The Child Care is a service of the McMaster Students Union which provides educational care for the McMaster student community as well as the community at large. The staff functions as a team to ensure that the child is relaxed and secure in his/her environment. The staff responds to each individual child’s needs, sensitive to social, cultural or developmental differences. The Centre is staffed by seven qualified Early Childhood Educators. The daily nutritious snacks are prepared on-site by a full-time cook. The Centre also hires six McMaster Students as teacher’s assistants through the Ontario Works program on a parttime basis. Due to the high volume usage of equipment such as toys, furniture, kitchen necessities, and the outdoor playground, the MSU Child Care Centre is continually trying to offer more resources for the children that attend their program 12 months out of the year. McMASTER STUDENTS UNION – SHINERAMA CAMPAIGN The McMaster Students Union – Shinerama Campaign is a nation-wide campaign which annually raises hundreds of thousands of dollars on behalf of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Shinerama aims to promote public awareness, support high quality care, and fund research towards the goal of finding a cure or treatment for this debilitating disease. The McMaster Shinerama Campaign provides thousands of students and staff an avenue through which to give back. McMaster consistently exceeds national expectations by surpassing their goals; last year raising $140,000! As you can see the Shinerama program is very important to the McMaster community.
