JANUARY 2014 VOL. 1 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INTERIM RECTOR MESSAGE MARK YOUR CALENDAR Jan. 1 HAPPY NEW YEARS OFFICES CLOSED Jan. 5 Epiphany Festival of Lights 7pm—Guest Preacher the Rev. Brian Kroeger from TUMC Jan. 9 Vestry meeting Jan. 18 Transformer deadline Jan. 19 ANNUAL CHURCH BUSINESS MEETING WITH CARRY-IN DINNER.
I hope each of you had a blessed Christmas and a good start to the New Year. (I don’t know about you but I gave up New Year’s resolutions a long time ago.) Even so, I believe it is important to reflect upon all that happened to learn last year’s lessons. Suzan and I were talking when I was home last month about how so many things in our past have fallen into place or now make more sense. We can more clearly see how God has used the last few years, to let us know all has been and is and will be in his hands. In one of my early sermons I defined the Old Testament view of faith as walking into the world backwards, watching what God has done in the past, knowing he will take care of the future. I hope each of you have learned many things from this and other years because each new Year is an opportunity to grow, heal and do things better. This next year at All Saints’ is an important one. God willing and the creek don’t rise you will have a new priest next fall who will walk with you into the future. In the meantime, you will be asked to do many things by the Diocese and your Search Committee to help in choosing candidates for Rector. Please take what is requested seriously and thoughtfully, drawing (continued on page 2)
(continuation of Interim Rector Message) upon all you have learned throughout your years of belonging to Christ, this and other churches and just living life. Please take time every day to pray for the search process and that God will send, and your vestry and bishop will recognize, the person God has just for you. Take time to pray that God will prepare you to be ready to be a part of the future of this church. I hope last year was a good year for you and this year will be even better. I have loved and looked forward each week to my time with you. You are good people and whomever God calls will be lucky to have you as parishioners. Use this year to get yourselves ready, for the future is so bright you’re going to need shades.

This time of year brings time for reflection on all we did this past year. All Saints’ has been busy. Projects completed during the year—new computers and computer system for the offices, installed a new accounting system, repainted and repaired the rectory, replaced all exterior doors, replaced the South steps, started a youth Sunday School class, continued to give food and alms to the Care and Share program with an in-gathering the first Sunday of each month, provided a $12,000 grant to the GCSD Backpack Program and designated the third Sunday of the month for an in-gathering to help meet their needs, held two very successful rummage sales, donated items for the Episcopal Foundation, worked to keep Gracie’s Promise before the public, hired an organist, and called an Interim Priest. As I look at the list I know I’m forgetting some things, but we have been doing God’s work in the community and the world. Let’s keep up these ministries in the coming year. God Bless each of you in the coming year!

Come join us for a special service on Epiphany Eve. The Rev, Brian Kroeger, paster of the Torrington United Methodist Church and the congregation will be our guests for our Epiphany celebration with a pie reception and Kings Cake to follow. The service begins at 7pm on January 5.
The annual meeting for the All Saints Episcopal Church will be held on Sunday January 19 following the 10am Eucharist Service. The will be a carry-in luncheon before the start of the business meeting. There are several important issues to be discussed and elections to be held. We must elect three Vestry members, two Convention Delegates, and a Senior Warden and approve the budget for the ministries of All Saints during 2014. The Search Committee will share the time line for the search during the coming year. We will also be discussing the by-laws of the church which need to be updated to coincide with the Diocese of Wyoming Canons. Your attendance and input is needed and greatly appreciated. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting on January 19. If you are responsible for any reports to the congregation could you please type them out and turn into the office by Monday January 13 so the agenda can be completed and published for the meeting. Thank you! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
