Fields and Updates

Discussion Motion to start meeting at 7:15pm by Mike K Arnie seconds Maureen Minutes - Motion to accept minutes Laura; second my Tom B Tom B Budget - October is a big income month. Everything right on budget. We are at starting point of large income. Equipment is over. Facilities is low compared to last few years. Referees will be being paid this month. If we miss a meeting, please contact Tom to arrange to pick up money/checks. Nicole Trivia Night - if anyone can help to get raffle items. Balance spa, 2 breakers jerseys, 3 Orange leaf cards, slush, halffners, Amesbury sports park, Coach bag and wallet. Calling for any gift cards/services etc. If each team can put together a basket, that would be great. 18 tables have been sold so far (as opposed to 14 last year). We will add a registration to be raffled off good for one registration (not a dollar value). Will also raffle off a TYSL under armour t-shirt and soccer ball. Breakers – no invoice yet because they are moving stadiums, so we want to wait. Auction is also being done, but they are starting earlier for it. Invoice for decals. Jorge Field Report - Upper fields filling in holes. Fields in bad shape – getting muddy. Jorge will fill in goalie holes. Hopefully they can be rotated for spring and fix in some of the gaps. Will be there this Sunday 7-10. Bathrooms – well water was tested – no bacteria (negative test from Nashoba Analytical LLC). Moderately high on iron. If we go with one bathroom and one sink in the shack - $800 filtration system. If we go bigger, the price is different. Town gave us drawings for the sewer. Mike’s company will volunteer the survey and will likely go through the town. New entrance, will take up ½ of the back room. Other option would be to make a whole new building to the sand pit (cost drastically increases). Will there be enough room for two (by code)? Jorge will price out for the two bathrooms (in the existing room at the back of the shack) as well as two bathrooms in a separate unit adding on to the shack. Can we check if the Tech would be interested in picking up a job (plumbing)? Town will let us tie into sewer. We can filter the water from the well. Can winterize in the winter. Girls’ softball (field of dreams) is getting bathrooms

TYSL Board Meeting

October 9, 2013 Travel:GU10/B U14 Spring

Snack Shack Volunteers

Winter soccer/U4, U5, U6

built. They were given a trailer. Mike/Mike U10 Girls Spring – 6 teams merged (with drop outs) to 5 teams. For spring, we need to get the coaches together and figure out how to mix players and make the 6 teams for the spring OR stay as is and turn away additional players. Could the scenario happen when kids are dropped and then decide to quit forcing the teams to be reshuffled again? Decision for the spring season has to be made by January. Registration ends on October 31st. We will discuss this situation after registration closes at the next meeting. We could send a flier to the North St and Trahan schools (approved by superintendent first) letting the U-10s know about the travel registration deadline of 10/31. U14 Boys Spring – Discussion of coaches and combining teams as a result of players switching sports and playing baseball in the spring. 18 players can be dressed per team. The board will have to vote on coaching changes due to reduced numbers. *Request for a refund for U10 girl. Hasn’t played/practiced at all. Refund granted. *A parent wants the league to do more to get U-16 &U-18 girls to register. Recommendations will be made and coaches will be voted on. *Town pass requirements/policy discussion. Travel directors will write the policy. Stacey Calling for Volunteers: Rough draft with snack shack policy was sent out to BOD via email. We need to let members know where the money goes. Right now two hour shifts. If a team was to volunteer – maybe an hour before/after the game with parents and players (older kids) that may work. If travel is responsible. 9 week season, 8 hrs (2 Fri, 6 Sat) a weekend, break down by 28 teams. Could each team needs to volunteer 2-3 hours per season so every team will do it. Can coaches ask teams to volunteer for “X” amount of hours. Have coaches ask parents to sign up at the coach’s meeting and post the schedule on the board. U6 and U8 Fridays only. Stacey will put something together to cover the rest of fall and look to promote it for the spring. Laura Winter soccer: Is there anywhere else to play indoor aside from the Dewing? Not without incurring a lot of cost. Can Laura put out an email to see if any of the coaches can run the U4, U5, U6 leagues (2 separate sessions). On the floor, the ball moves really fast. Winter – do we need to decrease the age. It’s a lot at that age and it’s very fast. We had 50 kids between all of the age groups. What about 10-30min blocks at Dracut (Breakaway) or do a 1 hour block and split the field. The kids may get more out of it on turf. 10-11 or 11-12. Right now we have the building 2-6 on Sundays. The price would be $1750/ 50 kids $35.00 per player to play

TYSL Board Meeting

October 9, 2013 indoor. Is the travel time too long? Would the time change be too much? Will think about it and make a decision. Fall Season/Past Serg/All Membership/ Games getting in? Make up games are going well. There is an online Coaches scheduling process. There is an 8:00am game rescheduled to a Sunday. responsibility Need to change the time (field isn’t open until 9:00am). Referees – going well. Refs need accounts if they want to do U-10 and up teams. Past members - $50 gift cards to those on the board who have moved on. Lou, Brenda and Paul. Are we doing it for those who have served 2+ years only? We have been doing it, in the past, for those who have served for only one year, so past practice – we will give it for those who have served for 1 year +. Tom will purchase 3 $50 gift cards. Coaches Responsibility: Parent complaining about the rule of not leaving their children for practice. Parent was told parent needed to be there for practice and wanted to know if it was a policy. U4, U5, U6, U8, U10 does have this policy. Parent needs to be there (or designate another parent to be in charge of your child) in event of emergency. Player/coach John Development East Coast – we are scrimmaging too much. We aren’t practicing enough (U6 and U8). U10 practice - 30 min scrimmage for an hour and a half practice is plenty. Curriculum – check on Mass Youth page to view curriculum, techniques and practices. Warm up activity, small side, end in a game. We are down to one coach from E.C. Indoor – we did reserve Dracut for winter indoor. 2:00 – 6:00 pm Sundays January 5th running 10 weeks, skipping the second of Feb 175 per hour x 10 hours = 1750 total. $7,000 for winter soccer. $75 for 10 weeks. Should indoor be designated for foot skills and endurance training? Who is going to lead this? The U8 director did the U8 hour (1/2 practice – ½ game), U10 was divided into 4 teams (mini league with drills/games) (2 hours – 10 min drill and 50 min game). U12 had one hour (more clinic). Should we have a formal curriculum for the indoor season? We can blast out an email, work out a 10 week curriculum and give it to the coaches. Winter is the perfect opportunity to work on foot skills. Budgeting will be voted on next meeting. Nov – Dec 1st for registration. F Course – Can we offer an F course for the coaches? Each individual pays and there is a $300 fee on top of it (for up to 15 or 30 coaches). We reimburse coaches. Motion to move dates to Tuesday – John Motion to alternate T/W by Nicol; Second Tom. All in favor/No dissent. Tues Nov 12th is next date Adjourn Motion to adjourn by Serg, second by Jonathan . All in favor.
