Tournament Rules All league rules are in effect with the following exceptions: 1. There will be no use of Spares during the Playoffs. 2. One pitcher may pitch the entire game regardless of the number of players. All other players must sit equally. If a pitcher leaves the mound to play another position she is classified as a regular player and must sit equally with all other players. 3. All pitchers (including Aspiring) will be treated as equals and no special rules or exceptions will apply. Substitutions for the pitcher can only be made from the field. 4. Mercy Rule: There is no mercy rule in any inning. 5. Games are 7 innings or one hour and 25 minutes. Home team must bat the bottom of the inning unless winning by 7 or more runs. No new inning can begin after 15 minutes before the time limit is up. However, once an inning is started, it must be completed (unless home team is up by 7 or more runs when it is home team’s turn to bat) even if the game goes over the time limit. The maximum run differential that will be recorded for any game is 7 runs. 6. Home team is decided by a coin toss for all games in the tournament. The following regular season rules remain in effect: 7. Injury Substitute Runners – All batters must attempt to run to first base. After reaching first base, the batter-baserunner, for injury or health concerns, may herself choose to be replaced by a courtesy runner. The courtesy runner will be the last player called out. There are no exceptions to the last out option. 8. No infield warm-ups, with the exception of the pitcher, after the first inning. 9. Each team must have an on-deck batter at all times; otherwise a strike will be called on the batter.
Scoring 1. Ties stand during round robin play. Points awarded are 2 for a win, 1 for a tie and 0 for a loss. 2. Default games are scored 7-0 for the non-defaulting team. 3. Each team is responsible for providing its own scorekeeper except in the semis and finals. Sheets must be handed in to Marjon Nasim at the end of each game. Mark an MVP for EACH team in all games including semis and final.

4. If teams are tied after round robin play, the tie is broken in order by the following means: 2 teams:
a) head to head b) run differential (total plus/minus scores for each game) c) coin toss (higher seeded team from Regular season will call the toss)
3 teams:
All games are used for calculation of run differential: a) run differential (total plus/minus scores for each game) b) coin toss (higher seeded team from Regular season will call the toss)
5. First and second place teams from each pool advance to the semi-finals.
Semi-final and Final Games 1. All playoff games are seven innings. There is no time limit. Ties are broken by the SPN tie-breaker rule: Last out starts on second base. Play extra innings until one team wins. 2. There will be two umpires for the final game. 3. For the semi-finals and finals, there will be an official scorekeeper who will be a member of the executive, including captains and co-captains. Teams must hand in their line-up/position sheet before the start of the game to the official scorekeeper. An executive member will be asking members of the executive and captains and co-captains, who will not be playing in the semis or finals, to keep score.
Miscellaneous 1. Equipment will NEED TO BE PICKED UP AT CROSBY on Friday night and by 9:00AM on Saturday and Sunday morning. All four teams playing the first game are to pick their equipment up from CROSBY and all four teams playing the last game (the two for the finals) are to return their equipment to CROSBY. 2. Four ice packs will be made available to each team on Friday night. 3. Concerns re umpiring should be communicated immediately to Renee Toleck or Annmarie Bethell (contact #’s on page 1). These concerns should be of a serious nature (rules, etc), not concerns re: perceived bias of calls, etc.

All teams must show up at the diamond, before game time to see if the game can be played or if it is to be postponed…unless captain has called with instructions.
