All players first name, last name, and University ID numbers must appear on the official score-sheet by 2:00pm of game-day. a. If a player does not appear on the official game sheet, that player will NOT be allowed to participate. b. DEFAULTS/FORFEITS A.

Default 2

1. A team captain or representative is responsible for notifying the Intramural office if his/her team are unable to participate in their scheduled game by 2:00pm of game-day. a. A DEFAULT will result in a loss for the defaulting team and a sportsmanship rating of 3.0 for the game. (see page #5 for the Sportsmanship Rating Scale) 2. Late or no notification of a team’s inability to participate in a scheduled game will result in a team FORFEIT. B.

Forfeit 1. One forfeit eliminates a team from all further play! It is possible for a team who has forfeited only one (1) time to continue play by coming to the Student Activities Office (inside the main Student Development office) within 24 hours and/or before the team’s next scheduled game to meet and discuss the reason for the team’s absence. 2. Forfeits result in a loss for the offending team and a sportsmanship rating of “O”. 3. After a forfeit, every member of the forfeiting team will be suspended from all intramural activity until the team forfeit has been discussed with the Assistant Director of Student Activities. a. Case Play a. Alice Pinkleton is the captain of Hit Squad, a Co-Rec Volleyball team. On Monday, Alice thought she had enough players ready to go for Hit’s Squad’s 5:00pm game. Unfortunately, only one other teammate showed up to play with Alice. After their five-minute grace period, the game was declared a forfeit. The next evening, Rodney Rogers, a member of Hit Squad, attempted to participate on his soccer team Kicking and Screaming. i. Ruling: Since every member of Hit Squad is suspended due to the team forfeit, Rodney or his teammates will not be allowed to participate in any intramural activity until they have met with the Assistant Director of Student Activities. Once the meeting has occurred and the Assistant Director of Student Activities has deemed the team’s reasoning for forfeiting as acceptable, all suspensions related to the forfeit will be lifted.

C.

Five (5) minute grace period 1. A team not ready to play within the five (5) minute grace period after the scheduled game time will be charged with a forfeit, subject to the discretion of the officials, supervisor, and/or Student Development staff. Games lost by forfeit will not be rescheduled for any reason. a. If a team leaves before the forfeit is duly noted by an official or supervisor, then both teams will be credited with a forfeit. b. The team that is present at the time of a forfeit must have the minimum number of players to field a team for that sport or both teams will be given a forfeit. c. In the event both teams and Student Development staff have agreed to play after the scheduled starting time has elapsed, no protest which is based on the starting time of the game will be considered.

If a team fails to have a representative present at the playoff captains’ meeting, that team will be placed in the first open spot in their respective bracket after all other teams have selected spots. a. If a team representative fails to attend the playoff meeting, his/her team is still responsible for participating in their scheduled playoff games. b. If the team fails to follow the proper DEFAULT/FORFEIT procedure, said team is still subject to the $10.00 forfeit fee. c. *note – if a team fails to have a representative present at the PRESEASON captains’ meeting, that team will forfeit their playoff scheduling priority/seed. 4. Bean Bag Toss Bean Bag Toss Game Rules Boxes are placed 30 feet apart from center of hole to center of hole. Rules for Players: The bean bag toss game can be played with 2 or 4 players. Each team gets 4 bean bags to throw. When 4 players are used, team members stand at opposite ends and may throw from either side of the box. Each player throws from behind the front of the boxes. This is the foul line. The player must not pass the foul line or the players throw does not count and the bag is removed from play. Each team alternates shots beginning with the team that had scored last. Scoring is as follows: Points are scored when a player has a bag on the board or in the hole. Only one team can score per round. Therefore points cancel each other. A point scored on the board is equal to 1 point, a point scored in the hole is equal to 3 points. An example of cancellation is as follows: Team one has 2 bags in the hole and 1 bag on the board equalling 7 points (3 pts. + 3 pts. + 1 pt. = 7 pts). Team two has 1 bag in the hole and 1 bag on the board equalling 4 points (3 pts. + 1 pt. = 4 pts.). The lowest score is subtracted from the highest score to get the points earned for team one (7pts. - 4 pts. = 3pts.). Team one earns 3 points in this round and gets to throw first in the next round. Game is played until one team scores 21 points. A team can win by a white wash which is 11 - 0. A white wash can not occur in the first half of the first round. (all 4 bags in the hole by player 1 of team 1 and only 1 point or zero points by player 1 of team 2) A bag that is tossed in play and knocks another bag off or in the hole is legal. A bag that bounces from the ground onto the board is not a legal play. This bag must be removed from the board and play is then continued.

7

Ladder Toss 1. PLAYING THE GAME: Prior to game play a line must be set 5 paces from the ladder. This is the called the toss line. The official toss line is 15 feet away but most players measure 5 paces from the game ladder to set the toss line. This allows for a closer toss line for children’s games. Ladder Golf is played in rounds, each round consists of all players tossing 3 bolas. A coin toss is used to decide which player or team will toss first. The first player must toss all 3 bolas before the next player is able to toss his or her bolas. Bolas can be tossed in anyway the player chooses, as long as they are tossed individually and can be bounced off the ground. The winner of the round earns the first toss in the next round. Games are played to an exact point total of 21. In order to win, a player must be the only one to score exactly 21 points after the completion of a round. If a player goes over the exact point total, that players points for that round do not count. For example: A player with 18 points needs 3 points to get the exact score of 21 in order to win. If that player has 5 points hanging on the ladder after all the players have tossed all strands, none of those points count and the player will enter the next round with 18 points again needing 3 points to win. In the case of a tie, the players that tie will play as many overtime rounds as needed until one player ends a complete round 2 points ahead of the other player. The 2 point rule only applies in overtime rounds. During regular play any player can win as long as that player is the only one to score an exact total of 21 points at the end of that round no matter how many points the other players have. 2. ETIQUETTE OF THE GAME: Basic etiquette of Ladder Golf states that contestants should make as many remarks, sounds or movements as possible during play in order to distract the opponent’s during play. Touching the player during tossing is never allowed. In the course of play no contestant is to walk to the ladder prior to completion of the current round of play. 3. SCORING: After all teams have tossed all their bolas, scoring is determined by the bolas that are still hanging from the steps. Players can knock-off bolas during the course of the game, in fact knocking-off other players bolas is encouraged and a good way to play defensively. bolas that are knocked off during play do not count as points. Only bolas that are left hanging after all bolas are tossed are counted as points. Scoring also uses the CANCELLATION method, where only one team scores per round. Cancellation example: If John lands a bolo on the top ring (3 pts) and the middle ring (2 pts) and Steve lands two bolos on the top ring (6 pts) and one on the bottom ring (1 pt). In this situation, John would end up with 2 points (both from the middle step) and Steve would end up with 4 points (3 from the top step and 1 from the bottom step...no bonus point is awarded). 4. POINTS: Points are determined by which step your bola wraps around. The top step is worth 3 points the middle step is worth 2 points and the bottom step is only worth 1 point. Players can score an optional bonus of 1 point by hanging all 3 bolas from the same step or by hanging a bola on all 3 (1-2-3) steps in one round. The highest amount of points available per player is 10. This is accomplished by hanging all 3 bolas on the top (3 point) step. 5. TEAM PLAY: Four players can play Ladder Golf by alternating play each round. Players simply alternate turns with teammates. Extra bolas can also be purchased so up to 4 players can play individually on the same ladder or a second ladder can be purchased for team play. With multiple ladders 2 players on opposite teams would be on one side and the other 2 opposing players would be at the other game ladder. One side would toss all bolas and the other team would toss them back. Same rules apply. 6.
