Liddell Elementary Weekly Update Week of February 06, 2017 THINGS TO KNOW Valentine’s Day Grams Leadership will be selling Valentine’s Day Grams starting February 1st through February 9th for $1.00. Students will receive a note and a lollipop. Bag it! Show your school pride out in the community by purchasing a Liddell Lions reusable grocery bag. Bags are $3 each or two for $5 and can be purchased in the front office while supplies last. Submit The Young Authors’ Faire is open to all K-6 grade students, and is an opportunity to celebrate original books authored and illustrated by children. Books are due to your child’s teacher by Friday, February 24th. We will have the opportunity to select ten books to represent Liddell in the Fresno County competitive division held on May 4th. This year’s competitive divisions will include: fiction, non-fiction, and exemplary illustration. Annual Young Author’s Faire Liddell will be hosting its Annual Young Authors’ Faire along with our Science, History, and Art Project Showcase on March 8nd from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Liddell library and cafeteria. We will be displaying student authored books and projects on this night. Safety procedures- Please help us keep our students safe o Crosswalks: Be safe and utilize crosswalks. o Vehicles are not to be left unattended in the drop off/loading zone at any time and they should not block access to/from the designated disabled spaces. o The bus loading zone on Alluvial is for busses only. Early pick up? In order to maximize instructional time and minimize disruptions to the classroom, we will call your student to the office when you arrive. ONGOING EVENTS Safety Procedures o Our school doors open at 7:30 a.m. for you to drop off your child/ren to the cafeteria. o When dropping off and picking up, pull all the way forward in the drop off lane. o Students in grades 1-6 enter through the main doors. o Transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students only enter through the white side gate closest to Alluvial (within our parking lot). o Pick up: Transitional kindergarten and kindergarten are to be picked up at their classroom; all other grades are walked with their class to the front of the school where parents/guardians will pick them up. Character Counts January 9th – February 17th Citizenship (Purple) Help others in the community, school, and home. Mondays are Purple dress days, Fridays are Spirit Wear. Space Pirates cast for the duration of the play, practice will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays @ 7:15 a.m. Students will need to check Google Classroom, the Remind app, or the call sheet in the office window as to what room they should report to for their rehearsal. Raptor Our new district-wide Raptor sign-in/sign-out system has been installed. In order to check-out a student or sign in/out as a volunteer/visitor your ID is required; this also applies to PREVIOUS volunteers. For instructions, you can ask our office staff upon check-in. Thank you for your support in keeping Liddell safe! Story time will be held for kids ages 0-5 every Friday from 2:25 – 2:55 in our library. This is a program sponsored by First 5 of Fresno County. Please send your child to school with the items they need for a successful day (sporting gear, water, lunch, homework, etc.). Many of these items are being dropped off after school has started. Our office staff does not interrupt classrooms during instruction and we cannot guarantee the item will be delivered when your child needs it.
