Literacy

Maths To count forwards and backwards to and from 100 from any given number. To read and write numbers to 100 in numerals. To find one more and one less than a given number. To add and subtract one and two-digit numbers to 20.

 Superworm by Julia Donaldson Yukky Worms by Vivian French We will be reading a range of poetry texts around Autumn and senses.

   

To explore the use of labels and captions. To understand the use of speech bubbles. To write a simple sentence. To re-tell familiar stories.

  

Key Reading: Non- Fiction We will be reading a range of instructional texts.

Science 





To recognise and label each part of the body and say which part of the body is associated with each sense. To know the four seasons and understand different weather is associated with each season. To understand how the length of day varies in each season.

Why is it good to be me? Where do the leaves go in winter?

Learning Challenge   

We investigate our local area and discuss our likes and dislikes. We look at how the weather changes with each season. We create a personal timeline and discuss activities associated different ages.

Trips and visitors  



We visit underwater street in our first half term. We take a walk around Calderstones Park to look at the changes that happen in Autumn. A trip to the pantomime at New Brighton.

Important dates to remember    

PE on Fridays Homework available on the school website on Friday. Reading books to be returned on Tuesday and Thursday Spelling books in to school on Wednesday

How can you help your child at home?     

Practise counting forwards and backwards to and from 100. Look at the numbers on the houses in you street. Read regularly with your child. Help your child learn their address Go for an Autumn walk to your local park
