Wyoming— Wind River Range H aystack, Southw est Face, 1979. In the sum m er of 1979, from the lowest point of the south end of the southwest face of H aystack, I soloed up the slab leading to a left-diagonalling crack above the small roofs.
I followed the crack for a single rope-length and then straight up a severe pitch to a traverse right. I climbed a left-arching crack (F 9 ) and tra versed right to a 400-foot series of F7 cracks, dihedrals and chimneys to the top. I drilled five holes. (N C CS IV, F10, A l.) Jam es B eyer
