Edgewood College gave fourth-ranked Concordia University Chicago everything they could handle in the NACC opening doubleheader for both teams, but the Cougars had the answer to every Eagles run. CUC claimed a doubleheader sweep, winning game one 13-10 and taking game two 7-6 in walk-off fashion in the ninth. Nick Cheaney was unstoppable in game one, going 5-for-5 at the plate and driving in three runs. Garrett Bogucki opened the first inning with a grand slam home run, and finished the game with a career-high six runs batted in. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Eagles trailed 5-1 before scoring two runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to tie the game. Ryan Fields delivered a big two-out, two-run double to tie the game. Alex Fowler finished with three hits, while Cheaney added two more and two runs batted in. On Monday, the Eagles fell to UW-Platteville 10-6. Edgewood College scored all six runs in the final three innings after falling behind the Pioneers. Fowler led the offensive attack with the three runs batted in on a two-run double and a sacrifice fly. Cheaney and Dane Lamont each had a double for the Eagles.

About the Warriors Wisconsin Lutheran sits at 2-2 in the NACC after sweeping Marian to open the season, but falling twice to Benedictine on Monday. The wins over the Sabres snapped an 11-game losing streak for the Warriors. Senior outfielder KJ Banse is hitting .306 with eight extra base hits to lead Wisconsin Lutheran’s offense. The Warriors have stolen 24 bases this season and been caught just three times. Sophomore Dylan Knoespel was two of the Warriors’ four wins this season and a 3.60 earned run average.
