CAST ON
You will begin by casting on a small number of sts at the neckline and as you begin knitting you will be increasing to build the rest of the neckline. To determine how many stitches will make up the neckline fill in the following blanks;
This is on of the trickiest part of a raglan. For the cast on we will be separating the stitches into sections for the front, sleeves and back divided by our stitch markers.
6.
Front sts x 0.25 =
right front sts
Cast on in the following order using the long tail cast in Color A; 1 st (to build the right front) marker A, 1 st, marker B, sleeve sts + 2, marker B, back sts + 2, marker B, sleeve sts + 2, marker B, 1 st, marker A, 1 st (to build the left front)

ERIN SWEATER FRAMEWORK INSTRUCTIONS (DAYS 2-6) After casting on, purl one row.
STEP 1 - Increasing the Raglan Working back and forth in stockinette stitch, increase before and after each B marker on every right side row using the knit front and back (KFB) increase. AT THE SAME TIME, increase at the beginning and end of every right side row until all right front and all left front sts are added. The number of stitches you have added to the right front and left front will be marked by the A markers. After all of your right front and left front stitches have been added - at the beginning of the next row cast on half of the center front sts with the placket allowance (#9), work to the end of the row and cast on the second half of the center front stitches with the placket allowance. ____center front sts with placket allowance x .50 = ____sts to cast on at each end of the row. Remove the A markers and continue working back and forth increasing before and after each B marker on every right side row until you have reached your desired raglan length. After you have reached your desired raglan length and before separating the sleeves from the body, cast on your 8 placket sts and join for working in the round.

INSTRUCTIONS (DAYS 6-19) STEP 2 - Separating the Sleeves From the Body On the next row, knit to first B marker, slip all sts between the first B marker and second B marker onto a stitch holder (later these sts will be worked as your sleeve), work all sts between the second and third B markers, slip all the sts between the third and fourth B markers onto a stitch holder, knit to the end of the round. STEP 3 - Working the Body Begin the stripe sections by working stockinette in the following color sequence (HINT: for a discreet color change begin your stripe section at the underarm.) 6 rows color B 2 rows color A 6 rows color B 2 rows color A 6 rows color B Switch to color A, continue working until you have reached your desired body length plus 1.5” for a hem allowance ________body length + 1.5 “ = _______body length with hem allowance. Bind off all stitches, leave an extra long tail to finish the hem. Fold bound off edge under 3/4” and use tail to whip stitch it to inside of the body of the sweater. www.30daysweater.com
ERIN SWEATER FRAMEWORK INSTRUCTIONS (DAYS 20-28) STEP 4 - Working the Sleeves
Slip the sleeve sts onto your DPNs, PM at underarm for beginning of round. For a nicely fitting tapered sleeve you will need to decrease stitches. To figure out the rate at which to decrease stitches work out the following equations. Keep in mind that generally sleeves do not fit tight to the skin so adding about 1-2" of ease would be prudent. The way you accomplish this is to simply add 1-2" to your wrist measurements before entering them into the following equations. 1. Count the sleeve stitches that are now on your DPNs _______sts 2. _______wrist measurement x 4.5 (stitch gauge) = _______desired number of stitches at wrist 3. _______ picked up sleeve stitches on your needles( answer #1) - _______desired number of stitches at wrist (answer #2) = _______Stitches to decrease before wrist 4. _______ sleeve length x _______row gauge = _______rows between picked up stitches and wrist 5. _______rows between picked up stitches and wrist (answer #4) ÷ (_______stitches to decrease before wrist ÷ 2) = _______How often to decrease for sleeve shaping. Begin working in the round in stockinette begin sure to include the strip sequence outlined below. Decrease one st before and after the marker every _____ (answer to #5) rows. Continue in this manner until you have reached your desired sleeve length + hem allowance. www.30daysweater.com
6. _______ sleeve length + 1.5 “ = _______sleeve length with hem allowance Work one row in color A then work the following stripe sequence at the upper sleeve 6 rows color B 2 rows color A 6 rows color B 2 rows color A 6 rows color B When you’ve reached your sleeve length + hem allowance, bind off all stitches, leaving an extra long tail. Fold bound off edge under 1.5”. Use tail to whip stitch hem allowance to inside of sleeve.
Repeat for second sleeve.
