1914-2014 Dear Parents and Carers, This year Hartsholme Academy will be joining the rest of Britain in remembering the centenary of World War 1. As a school we feel that it is right to create a lasting memorial in our school grounds and with this in mind we have purchased each family in school a poppy (like the one in the picture above). Our school community has also purchased a poppy from the art installation at The Tower of London to go into our memorial garden. Monday 10th November We would like to invite you to join your child/children to plant the cross in the ground in our school memorial garden to remember those that have fallen and those members of our community that are still serving across the world in conflict. We shall be serving drinks in the heart of the school from 3pm for a small donation towards the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. We would also like the children to wear their poppies and a splash of red on Monday to remember. Each class will create their own personal remembrance poppy as they learn about the reasons behind this day. Tuesday 11th November The school will hold a two minute silence at 11am to remember those who have lost their lives in conflicts past and present. We hope that you are able to join us to commemorate such a momentous occasion. Hartsholme Academy staff and children.
