Math Students are learning Financial Literacy. Students will have their Nine Weeks test Wed, Oct 12 covering 3DX2D multiplication, 4DX2D division, Order of Operations, understanding decimals to the thousandths place. Please ensure students are completing daily homework. Be sure your child is fluent in their multiplication math facts!

Fifth Grade Newsletter

Reading Every Monday we will be going to the library. Make sure each student brings their books to check in or recheck each week. This week we will be going over Fiction. We will be describing different story structures and how to organize a fictional story. Reading Assessment for 9 weeks will be October 13th. Please remind your students to be reading each night for 30 minutes! It is a great way to improve skills.

Science Students will be continuing with properties of water this week and will be having 9 weeks testing will be on Thursday, Oct. 13. On 10/14/16 the Materials List and Procedures are due and on the 10/28/16 the results graphed or pictures that display observations are due for the Science Fair. **Competed Science Fair projects will be due Nov. 16!!

Social Studies In Social Studies we will be covering Unit 1, European Exploration and Colonization. We will be focusing on Jamestown Settlement and the Spanish and English Colonies. The Social Studies assessment over Unit 1 will be scheduled for October 12th. The students can review the textbook for clarification on explorers or colonization.

Student Council News Student Council will be attending a conference in San Antonio on 10/11/16. This will be a great learning experience for all members. This year at Fall Festival student council will be having a haunted house. This will be new experience for us and will need parent volunteers. Also, Unity day is coming up on the 19th. Please wear ORANGE!!
