What would I do? Measure twice, cut once is your motto as a Carpenter. Your job is just as much about having foresight, planning and coordinating, as it is about building and creating. You have the logical mind to follow specifications and perform calculations and measurements, but you also have the creativity to think beyond the blueprint. Adaptability is key for your trade, especially when things don’t happen as planned. You may find yourself helping other trades to keep the project on schedule. HOW DO I GET HERE? A high school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program is typically required to become a certified tradesperson. A pre-apprenticeship foundation program is another route into apprenticeship training. The Red Seal endorsement is the interprovincial standard of excellence, and is available to tradespersons upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.
