Friday, March 17th vs Everett Silvertips A ROYAL FAREWELL: Tonight’s contest against the Everett Silvertips marks the final regular season home game that Ryan Gagnon, Jack Walker and Carter Folk will play in their WHL careers. Gagnon has spent his entire junior career with Victoria, and has amassed 66 points (9g-57a) through 318 games. Walker has also spent his whole junior career with the Royals, and has played 316 contests for the club where he has earned 246 points (99g-147a). Walker also owns the franchise records for most shootout goals at 10 and shootout game winners with four. Folk has registered 79 points and 392 penalty minutes (33g-46a) in 244 games spent with Victoria (66), the Lethbridge Hurricanes (171), and Seattle Thunderbirds (7). FAMILIAR ENDING: This weekend marks the fifth year in a row that the Royals have finished the regular season with a pair of home-and-home contests against the Everett Silvertips. Last season Victoria swept the series with 4-2 and 4-1 victories. The Royals also won both contests during the 2012-13 campaign with a 4-1 win and 4-3 overtime victory, while the Silvertips won both games in 2013-14. FRANCHISE LEADER: Tonight, Royals’ defenceman Ryan Gagnon will skate in his 319th career WHL contest to set the new franchise record for most career games played. Gagnon will pass alumnus Brandon Magee who participated in 318 contests with Victoria (252) and Chilliwack (66). The Quesnel, BC native has spent his entire career with Victoria and earlier this season became the first player to reach 300 games, all with the Royals. MR. 50: With a pair of goals on Tuesday night vs. the Giants, Matthew Phillips became the first Royal, and second player in franchise history, to reach 50 markers in a single season. Phillips is now one goal away from tying the franchise record for most goals in a season. The franchise mark is held by former Chilliwack Bruin Ryan Howse who scored 51 times in 2010-11. Phillips has tallied at least a goal in 38 of the 68 contests he has played in this season. WORKHORSE: Royals’ netminder Griffen Outhouse is currently two appearances away from tying the franchise record for most games played by a goaltender in a single season. The record is held by former Chilliwack Bruin Lucas Gore who took part in 64 contests during the 2009-10 campaign. In 62 games this year, the Likely, BC product has posted a record of 34-23-3-1 and sits second amongst netminders in the WHL for wins. FAMILIAR FACE: Tonight’s matchup against the Everett Silvertips marks the return of former Royals’ forward Keith Anderson to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Anderson was recently added by the Silvertips from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) In 39 contests with Victoria (2014-17), the Hermiston, OR product registered six points (1g-5a) along with six penalty minutes. PROSPECT REPORT: Royals’ prospect Tarus Fizer is currently playing for the UFA Bisons Midget AAA team of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. This season, Fizer tallied 31 points (13g-18a) in 27 contests for the fourth highest on the UFA Bisons, and led his team in game-winning goals with four. Fizer was selected by Victoria in the fourth round, 69th overall, in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
