FRIENDS OF MARTINS WOOD (PTA) SPRING TERM UPDATE January 2017 FRIENDS OF MARTINS WOOD (PTA) We are always looking for new members so feel free to join us at the next meeting on Monday 16th January 2017 at 7.30pm. will be the AGM meeting where we will need to elect a Chair and Treasurer followed by plans for the Spring Disco.

The chair and treasurer are standing down at the AGM in January 2017, should any of you be interested in finding out the responsibilities involved with the role of chair and treasurer please contact the [email protected]. The Friends of Martins Wood is a charity, so if anyone would be interested in becoming a trustee please let us know. Without you it will be unable to continue raising funds for the school.
NEWS OF PAST EVENTS NODA Night This event is external to the school, however the Lion King cast did provide some fantastic entertainment. This event was not as successful as the previous year and raised £32. Winter Wonderland Winter Wonderland began the festive season for all of us. The karaoke was once again popular as was the chocolate tombola! Once again the raffle proved popular with some fantastically prepared hampers. Winter Wonderland raised a fantastic £2,433. A massive thank you to everyone involved who helped make this such a successful evening.
NEWS OF FUTURE EVENTS We will shortly be discussing and agreeing the events for the next calendar year and will give you the dates for your diary shortly.
SPENDING MONEY At our last meeting we received a number of different proposals to use the funds raised. These have been considered and the votes will be made at the beginning of the next meeting.
The Friends Fund An easy way to make a donation to your school for those little extras. The initial fund raising is to fund outdoor play equipment. A standing order form is available in the office for any of you that need one, alternatively you can set up a standing order with your bank directly using the details on the form. Please ensure if you are a UK tax payer, you complete the gift aid forms – this enables the Friends to reclaim an additional 25% on top of your donation, making it more valuable to the school.
Friends Requests If anyone can spare any time to assist with the events, please let us know, we have some great ideas we just need assistance to bring them to life. If you have suggestions of how the Friends should spend the money raised at these events, please come along to the meetings or email the [email protected]
