Our Lady of Lourdes Parish

My three days in Townsville were very inspiring and helpful to my Leadership at St John Bosco’s. I hope to implement some new strategies over time which will benefit every child at our great school. More information as these ideas are unpacked with the staff. Just a reminder that on Monday we will be celebrating our Pentecost Mass at 9am. Pentecost is the birthday of our church and reminds us of the Apostles going out to the ends of the earth to ‘Spread the Good News’ of Jesus. Please come and join us if you are able to on Monday morning. We sent out a note regarding Bowen River last week. At this stage, we have not received many responses to help out. Please consider putting your name down for even an hour. We are receiving some money for the school, but many hands will make the job easier. Let the office know if you can help. Bosco Buddies is still going very well. Pass the word around abut the Collinsville’s best little secret! They wont’ be disappointed! Just a reminder of Saturday morning sport. Soccer is going really well and the children are learning many skills. Come along and join us! Thanks to everyone for making St John Bosco’s such a positive and energized place to be a part of. By working together we can achieve great things for your children. We belong to a great community. Let’s keep it that way!

What’s Happening in Year 3/4 In Grade 3/4 this term we have been reading The Magic Faraway Tree together. We are writing a narrative about new ‘Lands’ we imagine might be at the top of the Faraway Tree. We are also using our reading time together to practice our reading strategies of inferring, questioning, predicting and visualising. In Technology we have begun making our papier-mâché prayer beads. Later on in the term we will use prayers we have written to finish making the beads. We have been learning lots of new ICT’s this term. Make sure you ask us about Padlet, Voki’s, Glogster and Google Docs! We are answering lots of tricky questions in our religion unit about God and knowing that he is listening to our prayers. Soon we will start collecting photographs where people show God through their actions. We might even ask to photograph you!
