Math vocabulary and a number line are provided in the student journal.

Steps: When you add, you move to the right on the number line.

1. Find the larger addend in the addition sentence on the number line. 2. Look at the second addend and move that many times to the right to find the sum. 3. Record the number you land on as the sum.

Application of MPs: MP1:

What strategies were used to solve the problem?

MP2: What is a real life scenario you could apply? MP6: How can you use math vocabulary in your explanation?
