Approval of Minutes  The minutes of the August Vestry meeting were approved. Rector’s Report Page Lea delivered Father Andy’s report.  August attendance was slightly lower than 2016. One possible cause may be that we held VBS in August 2016 – providing a boost to Sunday attendance.  Rally Day got off to a good start with a wide range of age groups and worship styles involved in the 10 a.m. service. The staff did an excellent job in planning and executing the event. Ministries were well represented and more people visited the ministry tables than in 2016.  Father Patrick was commended for his first two “Fishing in the Word” children’s sermons. They have become part of the fabric of Sunday morning worship and terrific way to engage the children and their families.  Ruth Wilkins is gearing up for our small group training event in October.  The Eric Metaxas event is fully planned. Thank you to Henry Conde for working on details. The congregation is encouraged to attend and bring a friend.  The student ministry program is off to a strong start with 32 middle school and 22 senior high school members in attendance for the first evening. The senior high fall trip is full – and the middle school trip is half full. The search continues for a female assistant student ministry leader. Senior Warden’s Report  Page postponed discussion on “Growing Young” but emphasized the importance of revisiting the study in the near future. He pointed out the increased involvement of millennials in church life at Galilee.  After discussion of average age of Galilee parishioners, Jodie suggested we identify the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, etc.  Eric Metaxas event will be publicized in the community by various media.  Kay Scarborough wrote a letter detailing the restocking of the kitchen utensils, and silver serving pieces donated by a parishioner.  Rally Day was a great success.  Page conveyed the positive praise from parishioners in welcoming Father Patrick.

Junior Warden’s Report Hunter presented the report.  The Cavalier wall is basically complete – missing a few caps.  There have been meetings with two separate firms for Reserve Study Proposals.  The capital improvements in the Cove have been completed. Marty is so grateful for everything. Treasurer’s Report Page gave the report in Archie’s absence.  Attendance down slightly in August with 2.4% cumulative for the year.  We are financially sound with operating cash flow, better than budgeted. There are some capital expenditures expected.  Pledge revenue continues above budget. Old Business  John Parker reported that the nominating committee for the Vestry met. Next meeting set for October 3rd. A list will be given to Father Andy and nominees will be contacted in November. The slate is projected to be completed by December.  John Parker and Mike McCabe will co-chair the stewardship campaign. Speakers from the congregation will be scheduled for the first three Sunday’s in October. Father Andy will deliver his sermon on stewardship on October 22nd. “In Gathering” Sunday tentatively scheduled for November 12th.  John shared his concept of “Give with Joy” for the campaign and it was confirmed by many as an excellent idea.  Other topics discussed: a sheet on ways of giving, a gratitude board in the Commons Area, and the importance of getting good speakers from the congregation.  Capital Reserve Study – Page led a discussion of a 30 yr. projection of capital needs. Two firms have been contacted. One proposal has already been received.  A motion carried to authorize the Jr. and Sr. Warden to spend no more than $10,000 to engage one of these firms. New Business  Price Clarke gave a vestry liaison report on Missions and Outreach. She emphasized the strong lines of communication and flexibility within the committee. She distributed copies of the applications and a list of the 27 missions Galilee supported in 2017.  A new line item of contributing to a Special Disaster Relief Fund has just been added. It was discussed the importance of this addition in light of the most recent national disasters.  Jodie invited the vestry to join the marriage evening October 29th and encouraged inviting another couple.
