Dartmouth (0-0, Ivy 0-0) at Colgate (0-1, Patriot League 0-0) Saturday, September 16, 2006 • 1:05 Andy Kerr Stadium - Hamilton, N.Y. GAME DAY After opening their season on the road against nationally-ranked Massachusetts (Sept. 2), the Colgate Raiders (0-1) will entertain Dartmouth College (0-0) in the home opener at Andy Kerr Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is 1:05 p.m. This is the first of four straight home games for the Raiders. Colgate dropped a 28-7 decision to UMass in its season opener, while the Big Green is playing their first game of the season. In their opener, the Raiders allowed UMass to jump out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, before settling down to play the Minutemen on even terms over the final three quarters. Massachusetts’ high-powered offense totaled only 296 yards against Colgate’s youthful defense that featured six players who were making their first collegiate starts. The Raiders’ offense struggled against a veteran Minutemen defense managing only 183 yards of offense. Sophomore tailback Jordan Scott paced the rushing attack with 83 yards on 21 carries including a 25-yard touchdown run, while senior quarterback Mike Saraceno connected on 15-of-23 passes for 104 yards with one interception. Erik Burke, Wayne Moten and Kenny Parker had four receptions apiece. On special teams, senior punter Jason Sutton had one of his best performances, averaging 43.4 yards per punt on seven attempts, while kickoff returner Geoff Bean averaged 22.6 per return. His 40-yard return set up the Raiders’ only touchdown. Defensively, Colgate middle linebackers Mike Gallihugh and David Wesley led the way with 13 and 10 tackles, respectively. Junior cornerback Cody Williams came up with his fifth career interception while senior free safety Andrew Moore picked off his fourth career interception. Dartmouth was 2-8 last fall and 1-6 in the Ivy League under head coach Buddy Teevens. The Big Green has been picked to finish seventh in this year's Ivy League preseason poll. Dartmouth returns 16 starters including nine on offense and seven on defense. TICKETS Tickets for the Colgate-Dartmouth game are available at the Raider Ticket Office (315-228-7600).
