Here’s how to crack open a raw egg using one hand.

Get egg. Get bowl. Get spoon. Get a fresh egg, a clean bowl and a clean spoon.

Tap egg on bowl. Using one of your hands, hold the bowl to keep it steady. Using your other hand, carefully but firmly tap, tap, tap the egg on to the rim of the bowl.

Keep tapping. Once the egg starts to crack (at the place the egg is making contact with the bowl), continue gentle tapping to create a bit more of an opening in the egg shell’s underside.

Pull apart shell. Lift the egg directly over the center of the bowl, keeping the egg in the one hand as above. Your thumb and index finger should bear down on one half of the egg shell, pulling in one direction. At the same time, your remaining three fingers should bear down on the other half of the egg shell, pulling in the opposite direction.

Let egg drip. Once the shell is cracked open and apart with pieces in one of your hands, let the egg drip out of the shell and into the bowl. Some of the clear egg white might be gooey and slow to drip into the bowl.

Throw away shell. Throw away the cracked egg shell.
______7.
Pick out egg shell pieces. Using the spoon, carefully pick out and throw away any egg shell pieces found in the egg in the bowl.

Wash and dry hands. Wash and dry your hands. Raw eggs may carry harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness.
