LONGARM BOOT CAMP BASICS 10:00-12:30 MARCH 16 Does longarm quilting interest you, and you’d like to learn more about it? Or do you just need a review of longarm basics? This class takes the mystery out of longarm quilting by acquainting you with the basic terms, machine features, how to load a quilt, and what you need to know about thread, needles and tension. ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR QUILT 1:30-4:00 MARCH 16 “Edge-to-edge” is a popular term for quilting continuous-line designs from one edge of the quilt to the other, in consecutive rows, to create an all-over design. Freehand quilting, pantographs, dot-to-dot quilting and Groovy Boards are all edge-to-edge methods. Learn how to accurately scale and nest designs, for cohesive, all-over quilting.

Susan Jungerheld Susan Jungerheld has owned a longarm quilting business and a Handi Quilter machine since 2008. An award-winning quilter with several quilts in Quilt Trends magazine, Susan began teaching both piecing and quilting in local quilt shops, and now is thrilled to share her knowledge and experience with quilters everywhere as a Handi Quilter National Educator. Learn how to adapt traditional quilt designs for modern quilts, using modern tools to create special effects with geometric shapes and updated design elements.

START SIMPLE, EXPAND TO AMAZING 1:30-4:00 MARCH 17 Begin with a basic design from a stencil, a ruler or template, an appliqué pattern, a motif from a fabric, or even a shape you draw yourself. Then transform and expand that design from basic to spectacular. Add extended and secondary designs, repeats, fills and special effects. Learn marking techniques and tools for applying designs to quilt tops.
