GAME NOTES OPENING TIP
Gettysburg seeks its fifth consecutive victory today against Swarthmore. ALL-TIME SERIES Gettysburg holds a 28-9 lead in the all-time series with Swarthmore. The Bullets have won six of the last seven meetings. LAST MEETING The Bullets defeated the Garnet 72-54 on Jan. 7. Trailing 15-12 in the first quarter, the visitors ran off a 12-0 run to take the lead for good. Gettysburg shot 43.1 percent from the floor and dished out 21 assists on 28 field goals. Senior Jessica Porter dropped in 18 points, while freshman Emma Dorshimer and sophomore Annie Reilly tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively. Senior Kim Ryan dished out a career-high 10 assists in the win. Raina Williams paced Swarthmore with 21 points, while Jessica Jowdy posted 15 points. LAST TIME OUT Gettysburg easily dispatched Franklin & Marshall 76-34 on Wednesday. The Bullets outscored the Diplomats 44-12 in the opening half and held the visitors to just 20 percent shooting from the field in the game. Freshman Emma Dorshimer posted 17 points, while sophomore Emily Gibbons and junior Sara Graham each tallied 10 points. Graham also finished with 10 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and one steal. HAPPY HELPERS Gettysburg has posted 20 or more assists in a game five times this season. That is the same number of 20-assist outings in the previous three seasons combined.
ASSIST-TO-TURNOVER RATIO Gettysburg ranks seventh in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.26. The program has not posted a ratio above 1.0 in 30 years and the school record is 1.16 set by the 1984-85 squad. BIG WINNERS The scoring margin in Gettysburg’s 11 wins is a hefty 23.2 points per game. All but two of the team’s victories have been by double-figures this season. The Bullets’ 16.9 scoring margin overall is the best by the program since the 1983-84 out-scored its foes by an average of 22 points per game. GETTING DEFENSIVE During its recent four-game winning streak, Gettysburg has held its foes to a paltry 22.9 percent shooting from the floor. Opponents have hit only 10 three-pointers during that stretch. TOP SHOOTER Sophomore Emily Gibbons leads the Centennial in field-goal percentage at 53.2. Over the last nine games, Gibbons has canned 61.4 percent of her attempts from the floor while averaging 13.3 points per game. The last Bullet to pace the CC in field goal percentage was Caitlin Moser ’11 in 2008 (52.3 percent). SCOUTING Swarthmore... Swarthmore is in the midst of a nine-game losing streak. The Garnet fell to No. 12 Muhlenberg 74-59 on Wednesday. Senior Jessica Jowdy enters today’s match up tied for third in the conference in scoring at 14.9 points per game. Jowdy has pumped in 50 points in her last two outings, including 28 against McDaniel last weekend.
