And the Strength of the Wolf is the Pack

Congratulations to the girls’ varsity and boys’ junior varsity teams for their conference champion performances on Saturday at Berkshire. Pack running was definitely on display from our teams, as evidenced by the following 1-5 splits: The varsity girls had 1:10 between their 1-6 runners, the varsity boys had 46 seconds between their 1-5 runners, and the open boys had a mere 31 seconds between their 1-5 runners. Now that is how you transfer practice into performance! Compete with the pack mentality at the District meet, and we will be successful.

All-CVC Awards

By virtue of your performances in the League Championship yesterday, many of you earned All-Conference honors:

Girls: First-Team All-CVC – Anna Sorine, Hailey Vitolo, Camille Homolya, Juilia DiBease, Anna Iacofano, Alex Gessic Second-Team All-CVC – Alicia Rodriguez

Boys: Second-Team All-CVC – Tyler Johnson, Tyler Morgan, Patrick Hurley There may be more, as each coach nominates athletes for Honorable Mention awards. These will be known and recognized at the All-Sports banquet on Wednesday, November 8. Congratulations to all of you. That’s quite a coup, and hopefully just the beginning of recognition that you will receive as the postseason begins.

Districts

This week begins our preparation for our postseason run (there’s the bad pun you were expecting). Champions are able to take themselves to another level in terms of their concentration and focus on what is necessary to perform at the highest level possible. Let nothing deter you from doing all that is necessary as we strive to advance from the District to the Regional meet this weekend at Madison. Let’s have a great week that includes attention to detail in everything that we do, and I believe that another trip to Boardman will be in our very near future. If you agree with me, then it may be your destiny on this great journey.

Harrier of the Week

For CVC Championship week, let’s congratulate junior ANNA SORINE for earning the award. In her first conference championship meet, Anna led a bevy of first-teamers as the Lady Harriers dominated their Chagrin Division counterparts. Anna looked in control and poised throughout her race as she chased a pack of potential All-Ohioans from Hawken and West G. Congratulations Anna!
