Welcome, New Members! We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new student members and honorary members! It is great to have you be a part of our golden family and we cannot wait to share a year of great service and leadership events with you. As a Golden Key member, you have joined the ranks of notable world leaders like Walt Disney, Desmond Tutu and Bill Clinton. Take a look at our 2015 GK family!
Our 2015 executive board went to New Orleans for the GK Regional Summit.
Have you met our 2015 Executive Board Officers? Jessica Ventenilla & Nathan Arnaiz (Co-Presidents), Sophie Barros (VicePresident), Kristen Shimabukuro (Secretary), Shelby Mays (Treasurer), Kristin Rycko (Public Relations Director), Marcus Threadcraft (Service Director), and Nicole Diamantas (Campus and Community Outreach Director).
This Year We Sparked a Change Golden Key’s SPARK a Change initiative aims to impact and improve the lives of atrisk youth (ages 0-17) through literacy, education and real-world preparedness.
The goal? To impact 400,000 lives by raising 40,000 dollars and by participating in 400,000 hours of service by 2017. Our UM Chapter has been involved in various SPARK a Change initiatives this year and we are happy to contribute to a great service cause. Our Chapter’s initiatives included participation in Global Youth Service Day, Martin Luther King Day of Service at Brownsville Middle School, the Butler Center’s Funday, a Ronald McDonald House service visit, and a book drive to benefit Ludlam Elementary School.
