For Hako, the environment is not an abstract concept.We grew up with it. Nature all around us. As a result, we quite naturally and self-evidently developed awareness in dealing with the environment at Hako. No wonder, then, that early on we concerned ourselves with caring for and protecting the environment. All our planning and implementation has taken this into account. Thus back as far as 1994, Hako received the environmental award from the Stormarn Cul tural Foundation for an exemplary concept for waste prevention and disposal. Furthermore, since 2004, we have been certified to DIN EN ISO 14001 and entitled to use the European Union’s EMAS symbol for continuous improvement in environmental weiter home performance.

Consumption of materials and energy are the most important items if we are concerned with improving environmental impact.
Hako has used environmental audits, the formulation of binding environmental guidelines and environmental management to create the conditions for continuous optimization. One of the results in 2001, for example, was the installation of a new powder coating unit, which uses a solvent-free baking process. Among other things, this has enabled us to reduce our consumption of clean water. In addition, emissions of harmful substances have been considerably reduced.

5.2 Environmental Study Group The manager for the Environmental Management System (EMS) pulls the environmental goals together in a proposal, fine-tunes them with members of the environmental study group, discusses and passes them to the relevant departments and then incorporates them into the environmental programme. The environmental study group consists of seven people. Working in the team are the representatives for the Environmental Management System, for health and safety at work, dangerous equipment and fire prevention, as well as three other people from the areas of purchasing, development and works committee. This allows for a fully representative group from all areas of the company. All prescribed environmental goals will be worked through step by step according to their relevance to the environment by eco-teams in work group meetings with Hako employees under the leadership weiter home of environmental coordinators.

For Hako, the environment is not an abstract concept.We grew up with it. Nature all around us. As a result, we quite naturally and self-evidently developed awareness in dealing with the environment at Hako. No wonder, then, that early on we concerned ourselves with caring for and protecting the environment. All our planning and implementation has taken this into account. Thus back as far as 1994, Hako received the environmental award from the Stormarn Cul tural Foundation for an exemplary concept for waste prevention and disposal. Furthermore, since 2004, we have been certified to DIN EN ISO 14001 and entitled to use the European Union’s EMAS symbol for continuous improvement in environmental weiter home performance.

Consumption of materials and energy are the most important items if we are concerned with improving environmental impact.
Hako has used environmental audits, the formulation of binding environmental guidelines and environmental management to create the conditions for continuous optimization. One of the results in 2001, for example, was the installation of a new powder coating unit, which uses a solvent-free baking process. Among other things, this has enabled us to reduce our consumption of clean water. In addition, emissions of harmful substances have been considerably reduced.

5.2 Environmental Study Group The manager for the Environmental Management System (EMS) pulls the environmental goals together in a proposal, fine-tunes them with members of the environmental study group, discusses and passes them to the relevant departments and then incorporates them into the environmental programme. The environmental study group consists of seven people. Working in the team are the representatives for the Environmental Management System, for health and safety at work, dangerous equipment and fire prevention, as well as three other people from the areas of purchasing, development and works committee. This allows for a fully representative group from all areas of the company. All prescribed environmental goals will be worked through step by step according to their relevance to the environment by eco-teams in work group meetings with Hako employees under the leadership weiter home of environmental coordinators.
