Hamilton Pony Club Gamblers Stakes Rules SHOW JUMPING 1. At least 12 obstacles of varying height will be placed in the arena and at each a number will indicate its value. 2. The competitor must start through the start flags and jump 6 obstacles of their choice and finish through the finish flags. The starting and finishing lines can be taken in either direction. An obstacle will be provided or after the finish and titled “Joker”. The Joker may be jumped once (in addition to the above 6 obstacles) and 26 points are awarded if it is jumped correctly but if it is knocked down or a refusal or run out 26 points are deducted. 3. The competitor will be timed. 4. The obstacles may be jumped in any order and from either direction, but an obstacle may not be jumped twice. 5. Each obstacle jumped clear will entitle the competitor to claim the points as indicated by the number on that obstacle. No points will be awarded for an obstacle knocked down. 6. In the event of equality of points, time will decide. 7. The first two disobedience's will only be penalised on time, but the third disobedience and the first fall incur elimination. 8. Should a competitor have a refusal they must continue to endeavour to jump that obstacle from the same side and may not proceed until they have jumped it. 9. Should a competitor jump more than 6 obstacles (excluding the Joker) or jump any obstacle more than once, they will be eliminated. If the competitor jumps less than 6 obstacles they will not be eliminated but will get points for obstacles successfully jumped 10. There shall be no jump-off. CROSS COUNTRY 1. About 16 jumps, each jump has an approximate height 60 cm(10 points) , 80cm (20 points), 90cm(30 points) and some will have 95 cm(40 points), not all elements have a 40 point option. They are in close proximity of each other 2. The XC is timed. 3. Points are only gained for the first attempt at an element, if jumped clear. If competitor faults they must jump an element to continue on without being disqualified. ie If a riders first attempt is at the training jump and stops they can either keep trying over the training jump or choose to jump the lower jump. But they must get over something to carry on! And no points will be gained for that jump. 3 stops at same jump is elimination, or 4 stops over all of the course.
