All classes will be doing cross country first

Show Jumping Rules: First Start Level 2: The course for this class will consist of 8 jumps. The competitor may jump 6 different jumps. Riders may jump in either direction. a) 10 points if clear at 1st attempt at obstacle or activity b) 5 points if clear at 2nd attempt at obstacle or activity c) 2 points if clear at 3rd attempt at obstacle or activity d) Elimination after 3 refusals All other Classes: The course will consist of 12 jumps plus a Joker. The competitor may jump 6 different jumps plus the optional Joker. The Joker is worth 26 points if jumped clear however 26 points will be deducted if the Joker is attempted and knocked down. If the Joker is refused or run-out with knock down no points will be deducted. Riders may jump in either direction. The score will be that of the number of the jump. All Classes: 1. Elimination for a fall. 2. Elimination for 3 refusals. 3. No points for dropped rail. 4. No points for a refusal. (except 1st start)

5. Can only jump a jump once.

Cross Country Rules:

First Start Level 2: This class has a set course consisting of 10 jumps. a) 10 points if clear at 1st attempt at obstacle or activity b) 5 points if clear at 2nd attempt at obstacle or activity c) 2 points if clear at 3rd attempt at obstacle or activity d) Elimination after 3 refusals at same obstacle, or total of four refusals on the course e) Eliminated competitors may continue if it is safe to do so at the discretion of the Technical Delegate Course will include a “Halt Box” Rider must enter at walk remain for 5seconds and leave at walk All other classes: The competitor decides which height they wish to jump. They do not have to jump the same height throughout expect for combinations where the same colour must be adhered to. If a competitor has a stop at a jump (fall, run out, refusal) they may jump a smaller jump if they wish and then proceed. No points will be scored for that jump Scoring will be 60-75cm 10 points, 80- 85cm 20 points, 90-105 cm 30 points. Any disobedience at a jump will be a NIL score at that obstacle/jump. In the event of an equal placing the fastest time will determine the placing.

GEAR CHECK AT BOTH PHASES. FOOD TENT ON SITE. NO DOGS ALLOWED ON GROUNDS. NOTE: Approved safety helmets (with PC Stickers preferably), boots and medical armbands must be worn while mounted. Back Protector must be worn on the crosscountry phase. Back numbers must be securely attached and visible while mounted or points will be deducted. Rerewhakaaitu Pony Club or Onuku Maori Trust takes no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to person or property. No abuse or mistreatment of animals or other riders will be tolerated.

Appendix 1. ESNZ Gamblers Stakes Rules (excluding First Start) 2. Gamblers Stakes 2.1. At least 8 obstacles of varying height will be placed in the arena and at

each a large playing card or number will indicate its value. Combination obstacles are not permitted. 2.2. The competitor must start through the start flags and jump 6 obstacles of their choice and finish through the finish flags. The starting and finishing lines can be taken in either direction. (Article 207, page 6). An obstacle may be provided in the course or after the finish and titled “Joker”. The Joker may be jumped once (in addition to the above 6 obstacles) and 26 points are awarded if it is jumped correctly but if it is knocked down, 26 points are deducted (Article 215). In the event of a refusal or run-out with a knock down at the Joker, the Ground Jury will act as in the case of similar disobediences which occur at other obstacles on the course; no points will be deducted from the competitor’s score. 2.3. The competitor will be timed. 2.4. The obstacles may be jumped in any order and from either direction, but an obstacle may not be jumped twice. 2.5. Each obstacle jumped clear will entitle the competitor to claim the points as indicated by the playing card or number on that obstacle. No points will be awarded for an obstacle knocked down. 2.6. The winner will be the competitor who obtains the most points from the 6 obstacles of their round and the Joker. 2.7. The value of the obstacles shall be: Ace 14 pts, King 13, Queen 12, Knave 11, Ten 10, Nine 9 pts etc. 2.8. In the event of equality of points, time will decide. 2.9. The first two disobediences will only be penalised on time, but the third disobedience and the first fall incur elimination. 2.10. Should a competitor have a refusal they must continue to endeavor to jump that obstacle from the same side and may not proceed until they have jumped it. If the obstacle is displaced Article 232 will apply (page 21). 2.11. Should a competitor jump more or fewer than 6 obstacles (excluding the Joker) or jump any obstacle more than once, they will be eliminated. 2.12. There shall be no jump-off.
