HERMITAGE GIRLS SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION March 8, 2012 Association Meeting Minutes Board Members: Dan Black, Corrine Combine, Ed Chess, Paula Hearns, Bill Stitt Participants: David Clark, Ed Anderson, Tammy Scheuermann, Kristi Mentzer, Tim Yanak, Lisa Yanak, Todd Wasser, Steven Sipos, Emil Maurer, Shannon Gargano, Dave Haines, Mike Alexander, Keith Wansack, Dave George, Amy Hines 1. Meeting Minutes: February 8, 2012 Association Meeting Minutes were then approved and accepted by the Board. 2. Coach Clearances – Ed Chess: The HGSA is adopting the Mercer County Fastpitch Rule regarding coach clearances. All but scorekeepers will need criminal background check and child abuse clearances. These clearances should be presented to HGSA by April 1st – or at the very least advise Ed Chess that they are in process. 3. Mercer County Fastpitch Information – Dan Black: April 15th is the scheduled Manager’s Meering to schedule games. Location and time will be verified. 4. May 20th – Strike Out Juvenile Dermatomyositis Early Bird 14U Tournament – Dan Black: HGSA will be having an early bird tournament for 14U Fastpitch. We will be asking for volunteer support from all age divisions to make this a successful fundraising tournament. 5. Fundraising Update – Corinne Combine: Raffle tickets will be distributed at the Skills Session to all players. 6. Slowpitch/Fastpitch Uniforms: Corinne reviewed the choice of jerseys and that the jersey would be made available during the Skills Session for the girls to try on for size. Colors, etc., will be discussed at the next board meeting after teams have been decided upon. 7. Draft Procedures – Ed Chess: Discussion was held with respect to the draft procedure. The final adopted and board approved 2012 Draft Procedures is attached. This was not a unanimous decision. Let the record show that Board Member Dan Black voted “no” to the “even up” portion of the procedures. 8. Team Manager/Coach Presentation – Ed Chess: Due to the fact that to the Board’s knowledge there were not multiple manager’s looking to manage a team coach presentations were deemed unnecessary. If manager already has an assistant coach in mind, manager must utilize one of his picks to be the assistant coach's daughter. Assistant coach daughter(s) is/are NOT roster spot(s). If player is picked and has a sister, 2nd sister is automatic roster spot not a pick If a sister on team has a sister move up from younger division - younger sister is an automatic roster spot with older sister. Late registrations for both Slow Pitch and Fast Pitch will not be accepted after draft unless extenuating circumstances exist i.e. moving in from out of town.
SLOW PITCH First Round:
1st Pick goes to previous season’s last place team (regular season) 2nd pick goes to 2nd from last place team 3rd pick goes to 3rd from last place team 4th pick . . . . 5th pick . . .
Second Round: Even up players starting with previous season’s last place team. . . to first place team. Final Rounds: Picked consecutively by all teams in the round from previous season’s last place team . . . to first place team.
FAST PITCH First Round:
1st Pick goes to new team (if necessary) – or 1st Pick goes to previous season’s last place team (regular season) 2nd Pick goes to 2nd from last place team 3rd Pick goes to 3rd from last place team
Second Round: Even up players starting with previous season’s last place team(or new team) . . . to first place team. Final Rounds: Picked consecutively by all teams in the round from previous season’s last place team . . . to first place team.
