PRELUDE TOLLING OF THE BELLS
*CALL TO WORSHIP One: What does God require of us? All: To do Justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with God. One: How are we to treat our neighbor? All: We are to treat our neighbor as we would like our neighbor to treat us. One: How are we to worship? All: This is the Sabbath. We will keep it holy with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. One: That’s the plan! Let’s worship God! All: OK! Let’s enjoy our time together with God and with one another.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION God we seek peace in our lives and hope for tomorrow. Forgive us for the times we have neglected our faith and been a disappointment to you. Forgive us for the times when we have failed to serve those in need and turned our back on You in the streets of poverty and despair. Forgive us when we side with evil and the madness of warfare and fail to be instruments of Your peace. Fill us with your grace, and fill us with the
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (from Romans 5:1-2, 5) One: The crucified Christ has set us free to live in the Spirit of life. Hear the good news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. All: Thanks and praise be to God! *RESPONSE

PROCLAIMING THE WORD Pastor Jim
UNISON PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of wisdom and truth, pour out your grace upon us as we listen for the living Word, that our hearts may be set on fire and our lives proclaim your deeds of power. Amen. FIRST LESSON
Psalm 145:8-14
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (in unison) We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father. In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth. Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage. Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant. Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (from A BRIEF STATEMENT OF FAITH, 1990) *HYMN
