The International Cricket Council wishes to appoint a

Development Manager – East Asia Pacific

The International Cricket Council (‘ICC’) is the global governing body for the sport, which administers all aspects of international cricket. Its Development Programme has specific strategic objectives aimed at the sustainable development and strengthening of the sport globally. We are currently seeking a Development Manager for the East Asia Pacific (‘EAP’) region, based in Cricket Australia offices in Melbourne. The role works closely with the Development Services Manager, to drive the growth of cricket in the EAP region through supporting ICC Associate Members and the management of the ICC Development investment into Associate Members in the region. The role also supports ICC Associate Members in the region and organises qualifying events as a pathway to ICC major events in EAP. Principal Accountabilities Responsibilities of the Development Manager – East Asia Pacific will include but are not limited to the following: 





Manage the ICC Development investment in Associate Members within the EAP Region 

Overall responsibility for ensuring the ICC Development Investment into Associate members within the EAP region achieves the best possible return on investment; and



Management of the ICC Investment into programmes and services in Associate members in the EAP region, including but not limited to Mass Participation programmes, Training and Education and Capacity Building services.

Assist ICC Associate Members across EAP to grow the game of cricket: 

Facilitating participation and education initiatives in the region focused on the growth of the game;



Facilitating the sharing of best practice across members;



Organising regional meetings gatherings as appropriate; and



Supporting Finance and Data functions (annual data collection, Membership criteria, and development funding policy).

Assist in building strong, effective and fit for purpose Associate Members in EAP: 

Acting as a ‘critical friend’ to Accelerated Growth Countries at senior management / board level, supporting their organisational development, strategic planning and annual planning;



Facilitating regular ‘check and challenge’ conversations with Accelerated Growth Countries;



Fostering the application of excellent corporate governance within all Members in EAP;



Playing a key role in Accelerated Growth Countries annual review / planning / budgeting processes and annually agree a support package to enhance the capacity of Members;



Managing the delivery of support identified in annual support packages; and

 

Manage the delivery of EAP qualifying events as a pathway to ICC major events 



Developing a network of contacts amongst sports industry stakeholders in Accelerated Growth Countries.

Organising qualifying events to the ICC Cricket World, ICC WT20, ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, ICC Women’s World Cup and ICC Women’s World T20 for Members in EAP, as appropriate.

Maintain and grow relationships with Cricket Australia (CA), New Zealand Cricket (NZC), the Australian Government and other relevant partners in EAP: 

Increasing awareness of Associate cricket within CA and NZC;



Leveraging expertise from within CA and NZC to support the growth of cricket in Associate Members; and



Managing the Pacific Sport Partnership, Asian Sports Partnership and other funding programmes from the Australian Government



Maintain strong relationships with other partners, or potential partners, in EAP



Play an active role in the ICC Global Development Team 

Being a key Member of the ICC Global Development Team, connecting regularly with counterparts in other locations on global initiatives, sharing of good practice and ensuring a globally consistent approach; and



Taking on additional, global, projects, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Experience 

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area;



Proven expertise in sports management with good understanding of best practice in sport development;



Experience in managing sports participation programmes and education initiatives;



A record of organisational leadership and team development;



Demonstrated experience in - and an understanding of the game of cricket;



Strategic planning and implementation skills;



Demonstrated ability in managing significant budgets;



Demonstrated ability to conceive, construct, prioritise and deliver complex projects in disciplines including international cricket tournaments;



Experience in the application of excellent corporate governance – ideally in a sporting context;



Experience in working with people from different cultural backgrounds and a capacity to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders through strong interpersonal skills;



Energy and passion to take initiative, influence and inspire others to perform;



Exceptional time management skills including the ability to work remotely and independently;



Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; and



Motivated and enthusiastic attitude;

Conditions of employment 

The position reports to the ICC’s Development Services Manager and is based in Cricket Australia Office in Melbourne;



The role involves regular working hours while recognising the need to be flexible, at times, considering different time zones;



There will a reasonable amount of travel (domestic and international) required, as part of this role;



The selected candidate will be required to provide two recent work references; and



Compensation offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
