INDIVIDUAL NOTES  Senior quarterback Dominique Davis established an NCAA record by completing his first 26 passes. The previous NCAA record for consecutive completions in a game was 23, set by Tee Martin against South Carolina Oct. 31, 1998, and matched by Aaron Rodgers against Southern California on Oct. 9, 2004. o Davis’ previous best completion streak to start a game was 14 versus N.C. State on Oct. 16, 2010.  Davis also set an NCAA record for consecutive completions in a season with 36 as he converted his final 10 consecutive throws at Memphis last week. The previous NCAA record for consecutive completions in a season was 26 by Aaron Rodgers in 2004 against Oregon State (3) and Southern California (23). o During those 36 completions, Davis accumulated 388 yards and four touchdowns.  Davis, the FBS career active leader in completions per contest with 29.8, ended the matchup with 40 completions, three shy of the single-game record he set in last season’s game versus Navy.  Davis moved into a fourth place on the East Carolina all-time completions list with 607, surpassing Patrick Pinkney (2005-09/603).  Davis’ completion percentage of 88.9 for the contest set the East Carolina single-game record, surpassing Pinkney’s 82.6 conversion rate versus Virginia Tech on Aug. 30, 2008. o It is also the second highest single-game completion percentage in NCAA history among passers who have had at least 40 completions (Texas Tech’s Seth Doege converted 90.9 percent of his attempts Sept. 17, 2011, versus New Mexico.)  Davis’ second-quarter three-yard touchdown pass to senior outside receiver Lance Lewis was Davis’ 50th career scoring strike. David Garrard is the program all-time leader with 60 touchdown passes.  Davis accounted for two of the team’s five offensive touchdowns. For his career, he has been responsible for 62 of the team’s 82 offensive TDs (75.6 percent).  Davis threw for 372 yards, extending his school record to six games with 350 or more yards passing.  Davis did not throw an interception and has been pick-free his last two contests after throwing one or more in eight consecutive games. o The Pirates are 2-0 in the last two games while going 1-7 during his eight games with an interception.  Lewis’ second-quarter touchdown reception gave him 21 in his career, tying Larry Shannon (1994-97) for the most in East Carolina program history. It also marked Lewis’ 14th score in the last 12 games.  Lewis caught nine passes in the contest to move ahead of Terrance Copper (2000-03/139) and into fourth on the program’s all-time receptions chart with 143. Former teammate Dwayne Harris (2007-10) leads the way with 268 grabs. o Lewis entered the game ranked second in Conference USA, and 16th nationally, with 7.5 receptions per game.  Lewis also jumped ahead of Walter Wilson (1986-89/1,670) and into seventh on the East Carolina reception yards leader board with his 80-yard game, giving him 1,677 in his career. Harris tops that category as well with 3,001 yards.  Junior Reggie Bullock set a career high with three rushing touchdowns – 1 yard in the third quarter, 13 yards in the fourth quarter and three yards in the fourth quarter. o He is the first Pirate to have three ground scores in a contest since Brandon Simmons tallied three against UTEP Nov. 28, 2008, and the first to have three in a half since Art Brown against Army Oct. 2, 2002, a span of 115 games. o Bullock also recorded his second 100-yard rushing game, netting 104. His career-high was 169 against UAB on Sept. 24. o Bullock also set a personal best with five receptions for 38 yards.  Freshman inside receiver Danny Webster established a career best with 81 receiving yards. o Webster ended the first half with 70 receiving yards and his previous high for a game was 67 yards. o In the last two games, Webster has caught 13 passes for 148 yards.  Sophomore inside receiver Derrick Harris set career bests with six receptions for 48 yards.  Freshman inside linebacker Jeremy Grove tallied 10 tackles after beginning the game ranked third in the country in stops per game with 13.2. He was the only freshman among the nation’s top 80 tacklers. o Grove became the first ECU player to have 10 or more tackles in his first six games of a season (12/SC, 12/VT, 15/UAB, 13/UNC, 14/UH, 10/NAVY) since Pernell Griffin in 2001 (24/WFU, 15/TUL, 13/W&M, 17/SYR, 22/UNC, 10/ARMY).  Senior outside linebacker Cliff Perryman tackled Kriss Proctor for a two-yard loss in the second quarter, giving Perryman three-straight games with a tackle for lost yardage. o Perryman added an eight-yard sack of Trey Miller in the third quarter, giving Perryman a sack in two of the last three games. o Perryman set a career high with seven total stops, all solo, in the contest.  Junior nose guard Michael Brooks’ second-quarter fumble recovery was the second of his career and first since Nov. 21, 2009, at UAB.  Senior kicker Michael Barbour converted 1-of-3 field goal attempts after missing his first career kick during a road contest last week at Memphis. He entered the game with the sixth-highest field goal percentage (84.0) among active FBS kickers. o Barbour missed from 43 and 32 yards in the opening quarter, marking the first time in his career he had missed consecutive FG attempts. State on Nov. 25, 2006 o Won nine of 11 meetings against military academies that annually compete for the Commander-In-Chief Trophy  The Pirates improve to 3-4 this season. The last time ECU was 3-4 was in 2006, when ECU went 4-1 over the last five regular-season games to earn its first bowl bid since 2001. East Carolina was 5-2 through seven games a year ago and 4-3 from 2007-09.  East Carolina recorded its first victory over the Midshipmen after dropping the previous two meetings, 28-23 (2006) and 76-35 (2010).  ECU improves to 21-40 (.344) in non-league action since accepting membership in Conference USA prior to the 1997 season.  The Pirates won consecutive games for the first time since defeating N.C. State and Marshall Oct. 16 and 23, 2010. TEAM NOTES  At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied 0-0. It was the first time neither team had scored in the initial frame of a regular season contest since the Oct. 10, 2009, game at SMU. o East Carolina held the ball for 10:18 in the first quarter, but failed to score. o Entering today’s tilt, the Pirates had been outscored 38-3 in the first frame the last three contests after holding a 21-7 firstquarter advantage through the first three games.  East Carolina held a 17-7 lead at the half. ECU had been outscored 73-13 in the opening half of the last three games.  ECU surrendered 35 points. In the Pirates’ last six road or neutral site contests, the team has allowed 277 points, an average of 46.2 points per game.  At the end of the third quarter, the Pirates held a 24-21 lead. East Carolina has won its last 16 contests when leading after three frames (last loss Jan. 2, 2009, to Kentucky in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl).  Entering the game, the Pirates ranked last in the country in turnovers per game with 3.8 but turned around their performance, not committing a turnover. It is just the third time in the last 20 games (Memphis Sept. 11, 2010, and UAB Nov. 11, 2010) without a turnover.  The Pirates recorded 504 yards of total offense, putting them over 500 total yards in all three wins this season (542/UAB; 524/MEM).  East Carolina’s 372 yards passing is the seventh-highest total in program history when playing a road game.  Navy’s Marcus Thomas returned the opening kickoff of the second half 90 yards for a touchdown. It was the first kickoff return for a TD allowed since Jan. 2, 2009, when Kentucky’s David Jones ran one back 99-yards in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, a span of 34 games.  ECU finished the game with a six-of-seven performance in the redzone after going four-of-four inside the 20-yard line last week. In the previous three games, the Pirates had converted just 6-of-10 opportunities inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.  The Pirates tallied 132 rushing yards after gaining 157 on the ground last week. It is the first time ECU has rushed for 100 or more yards in back-to-back games since Nov. 20 and 26, 2010, against Rice (146) and SMU (128).  Seven Pirates caught passes in the opening quarter. It was the first time seven ECU players had caught at least one pass in a frame since the fourth quarter at UAB Nov. 11, 2010.  In this season’s four non-conference games, the Pirates allowed just 38 pass completions (9.5/game) for 588 yards (147.0 ypg).  Navy rushed for 284 yards and two ground scores. In the last 13 contests, East Carolina has surrendered 3,098 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns (238.3 ypg/3.5 TD/game). o In the last two contests against Navy, the Midshipmen have rushed for 805 yards and 10 ground scores.  On third down, ECU converted 11-of-17 opportunities (64.7 percent). The Pirates are 3-0 this season, and 15-1 in their last 16 contests when converting third downs at a rate of 50 percent or higher (L, 49-35 at UCF on Oct. 30, 2010, when converting 70.6 percent).  With its second-quarter touchdown, ECU extended its streak to a school-record 175 games without suffering a shutout.
